Mantle Cell Lymphoma

Mantle Cell Lymphoma

Jim, I wish you could have seen the tears in Lamoy's eyes when I gave her the $100 check from the lady who wrote a letter saying that this was to be used to help her "start her business". Wonderful people donating to help this worthy family. I am all out of organic cherry seeds to send but all I can do is keep praying that people want to share what they have and donate to her before April 15th when they will get a tax writeoff.

As for the lymphoma, wheatgrass juice does work miracles. But, it's not what we add to our diets, it's what we consistently refuse to take into our bodies: salted processed cholesterol and oils of any type. No olive oils, no flax seed oil (just soak the flax seeds or grow them into plants), no animal foods of any type and make sure that the food is liquified (juiced or blended) in order not to stress the body. Don't put any lotions or oils on the surface of the skin because that just adds to the problem. A little avocado and natural oils from soaked nuts and seeds will supply, along with the dark green leafy greens and sea vegetables, everything that is needed in the way of essential fatty acids.

Peace and love be with you

I got a care food pkg from Angela Stokes for Lamoy, Joe & the Kids

John Romano drives to their home to get his weekly supply of food from Lamoy on Sunday. He has the huge box of food Angela sent and he will take it up to them. It arrived at a time that they really need it. They are a month behind on their rent and I know they feel blessed that their landlord is not being pushy about it. This is the first time they have been behind. I took her some food yesterday morning and when I came home, there was the package at the post office and I cannot go again until Tuesday, but John is kind enough to do it a few days earlier.

One of their sons had his 7th birthday a week ago and he shyly asked me for a present the next time I come. He got underpants, but no toys. She is happy to know that the principle for the bail bond has been paid off, after a generous check from Brenda Cobb of $300, and is struggling to make sense of having to pay interest too, because she was just subtracting the payments from the $6,250 balance, plus a $75 fee twice for having to move the money to different cards when they didn't make the payment on time and the interest shot up to usury amounts.

This innocent young family had not even had a checking account when I met them and had been trying to live just from their pocket change. When they were asked for $12,500 as bail, the bail bondsman gave them 50% to him, with my guarantee, and 50% to my credit card (with my guarantee). They made the $300 per month for the bail bondsman, but when it came to my credit card, the minute they were forced into that expensive home by the state, with the payments of $1,400/month for just the rent, there was nothing left. She has gotten her driving license, and has sent in the papers for her business license.

She's almost there to being an independent businesswoman with a catering service. Help her just a little longer, and then she will make us all proud. I'm proud of her for just being a good, loving mother under the circumstances, and trying as hard as she is to help others, and never doubt God's path for her.

Asha & Eric warmed hearts - Andressohn Family Update

In Longmont, CO., Asha & Eric warmed hearts with $20 donation today

For the Andressohns. And, a huge bag of our favorite snack in the world, organic mulberries, from someone who cares at 866-RAW-DIET (729-3438), www.TheRawFoodWorld.com. I think of my beloved tree in VA, which got eaten up by kuzu in my absence, and the trees at the NE corner of S. Temple & State Street in SLC, UT and the last time I ate them were with Lamoy and little Joy, picking them right from the trees for sale to the owner's customers last year!

Dr. Wigmore wrote an important pamphlet, "WHY YOU DON'T NEED TO GROW OLD" that many people have not read yet. I want to quote from the preface written by Dr. Saul Heller, Diplomate, American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology; Past President, N.Y. State Board of Medicine (how about those for hefty credentials - besides, he was a gorgeous hunk in his senior years when I met him in Boston at the Commonwealth Avenue Wigmore Institute):

"While attending Cornell University medical College in the 1920s, I received a basic course in the science of neutrition. Its content concerned food components, how they are digested and utilized, and how their caloric values are determined.

However, the relationship of this knowledge to the health of the body was limited. It was not until 1982 that evidence came to my attention that live foods are helpful in the treatment and prevention of cancer. This study was conducted by the National Institutes of health in Washington, D.C., but unfortunately it's findings were not widely publicized.

In 1984, when I personally developed an inoperable malignancy, I sought treatment other than chemotherapy and radiation. I contacted Alternative Cancer Therapies, Inc., and learned about Dr. Wigmore's program at the Hippocrates Health Instittue in Boston, which she founded. My wife and I entered their two-week learn-by-doing program in Boston. What makes this regimen so unique is its emphasis on the importance of cleansing and detoxification as a preliminary phase leading to rejuvenation through the use of the life food diet. We found this approach so helpful in restoring our health and vitality that we have adopted the live food regimen as our own pattern of eating and living. This program, as in my case, offers the best alternative for people who are suffering from inoperable diseases.

I've enjoyed reading Dr. Wigmore's latest of her many publications, "Why You Don't Need to Grow Old" and feel that readers in general will find it of great value. Many will want to incorporate the message into their way of life because of the many benefits that will follow. I must emphasize that the program is not just a diet but is founded on many general principles, such as the power of the mind, importance of attitude, exercise, colon care, etc. It is, therefore, a total lifestyle.

Up to this time, the results of this program in the control of malignancies has been based on thousands of case studies. Because of this, the scientific world should be profoundly interested in the physiological effects on the human body following an incorporation of the live food diet into one's daily routine.

I understand that Western Medicine has had to combat the influence of unbalanced and faddist diets in order to protect the public. Therefore, their approach to the radical introduction of a program which includes fruits, vegetables, fresh greens, baby greens, soaked and sprouted seeds, grains and nuts, replete with enzymes and chlorophyll, has been either to dismiss the diet or to exercise ultra-caution. They have done this because many people find it difficult to incorporate its practices into their daily lives. However, when the medical profession realizes that there are sufficient proteins in an easy-to-digest form as amino acids, complete minerals and trace mineral daily requirements, and no levels of dangerous fats and oils, their attitude will (and has - Dr. Flora's 2 cents) become more amenable.

I hope and anticipate that the results of these case studies will continue to confirm and reinforce Dr. Wigmore's findings on the efficacy of this program in the amelioration of the aging process and restoration of total health through disciplined dietary habits.

New efforts should be exerted to initiate clinical studies with diagnosis and scientific documentation of the findings including all appropriate laboratory tests and x-rays. All the scientific findings available to date show no reports of adverse effects beyond the temporary difficulty of overcoming addictive foods and drinks.

It's my fervent hope that the American Medical Society will not summarily dismiss this program as purely anecdotal before results of scientific investigation are completed, and that they would encourage people to take advantage of this alternative, if they so desire."

Dr. Heller had no more problems with erectile dysfunction once he got off dairy and animal products, fish and fowl and got into electric food, mixing his watermelon and apples with his greens quite nicely and peacefully. He uses no salt but soaked dulse, no acid vinegars, no citrus, no nightshades. No Braggs (poison), no nama shoyu. No concentrated sweetener like agave syrup. No dead proteins like raw (really dead) canned tahini. Please send this info from Dr. Heller to everyone who might benefit from his confidence and his medical history. Dr. Flora prays that you will stick with the Real Ann Wigmore Energy Soup, and use plenty of weeds like lambs quarter and purslane like she did the last 2 years of her life, save your seeds, and use local fruits. Remember, you only get electrical energy from fresh fruits.

Update-Christmas for the Andressohn family

We are having a great Christmas for the Andressohn family! Lamoy said she would like to have help, but she has no money for presents. I worked all day wrapping presents for children all over Homestead and Florida City, and John Romano, my co-teacher in English for the Coalition of Florida Farmworker Organizations, came to help too, and he carried out a huge bundle of toys for the Andressohns that we picked out together, thanks to the Catholic Church thrift store's clients donating brand new toys for the community children.

I was also given some toys and books for the Andressohns from the YWCA of greater Miami. If anyone would like to donate some money to them also so that they can retire their bail bond debt, please send check, cashiers check, or money order to: make it payable to me: Flora Van Orden PO Box 900963, Homestead, FL 33090 and maybe by the new year, this financial monkey will be off their backs!

They are trying so hard and working diligently, but the rent is just so high they have nothing left over to pay me anything.

God bless everyone and keep up with the raw/living loving energy!

Thanksgiving with the Andressohns

Andressohnfamilyasp Went to visit and Lamoy was busy with her children in the kitchen preparing her feast. I really enjoyed having 'our' little Joy playing all over us!

The children are so healthy and the home they are renting is up for sale. Their yard is looking like a jungle with papayas hanging heavy on their trees, and so many fruits and vegetables, coconuts and other goodies peeking out from behind leaves. I took them a monstera deliciosa plant and ripe fruit. I also took many boxes of donated Paradise Farms baby greens and a case of their organic avocados.

They are still up against the wall financially, so I hope that some viewers will share their abundance with them. I took the children some clothes and toys, too. I love that family and what they are doing for their children. I then went to Paradise Farms Organic Farms and spent some time with Gabrielle and on to the Everglades International Hostel in Florida City where to my delight, there were many vegan dishes at their feast, as Owhnn has returned from Puerto Rico with ideas she has turned into reality: a raw food kitchen for the hostelers.

So, if any people are coming to visit South Miami area or the Keys, $25 will get them a student dorm room and the best raw vegan food available.

Generosity from Afghanistan

Don Zabinsky from Afghanistan is most generous with his SECOND $500 check for the Andressohns.  He sounds like he is part of the fight for freedom, the freedom to choose what we eat without being persecuted.

Andressohn family update, 7/18/2006

Today, I put the Andressohns in the car and we went to their monthly meeting.

Lamoy told me wonderful things have been happening.  3 of her children have said they want to go back to being vegans/raw food people now.

Little Joy is eliminating from her nose the goat's milk that someone gave her who was taking care of her earlier.  I love the full moon wane when people can blow and cough out what they have been storing all month long!  She took the little lady to the doctor and he said she is fine.

Every time I am out with them, the general population remarks on her sweetness, and finishes it off with "but she's so tiny!"  Yes, tiny and perfect, just like her mom!  Lamoy is afraid if her baby loses any weight, that she will cause anxiety in others, but I told her that it will be normal if she loses weight while she is eliminating, and she should be just fed breast milk and water until she's clear of her mucus - perhaps a little papaya and maybe some freshly juiced ripe pineapple juice.

It's delightful being around her children.  So smart.  The little girl is smartest in her kindergarten class, and one of her sons has a genius in math, another, has tested genius.  A blue ribbon to the mom, for causing the little brains to develop to their maximum with the raw foods.

I took them to Wild Oats and everyone was so glad to see them.  I have to teach, so I had to drop them off.

Lamoy said the lawyers are preparing to do something because the prosecutor coached (and bribed the children with chocolates) before the trial.

Peace and love,

Party at the Andressohns - rec'd 7/9/2006

Joe Andressohn gave me a $50 bill yesterday to reduce their bail bond amount that is owed.  He was exhausted from working since dawn cutting lawns.  I hesitated to take it from him because it has been raining so hard in the past few days that he has had not much time to cut people's yards to make the $1,400 rent it takes each month for their new house.

I am counting on the generosity of the people out there in the raw food world to help them out because the remaining balance is less than $2,000 now. Reduce your income tax at the same time, perhaps. Help everyone, let's reduce this to zero and take the pressure off this family.

I picked Lamoy and the children up yesterday and started to go to a going-away party for friends who are taking their children to Costa Rica to farm, and we passed by a man in a wheelchair with one leg.  I turned the car around and stopped at a church that was having a picnic/barbecue with a large sign "FREE FOOD."  I told them that we were going to feed a crippled man who was begging on Highway US1 and they gave us 5 hotdogs and 5 cans of soda pop, and some chicken.  I got a plate of beautiful fruit.

I explained to the man that the children were from a raw food family and they were vegetarians.  The man walked over to the car and exclaimed how beautiful the children were.  The man invited them to come to church this Sunday (today).  He mentioned that the hotdogs were turkey and wondered if they would be OK; I don't think he understood the raw part.  I will leave it up to Lamoy if she wants to pursue that and help him understand at some future time.

Anyway, we drove back to the man and gave him the food at the corner of US1.  We then drove to the party and the children went wild with the raw food there!

They are such well behaved children, and so intelligent.  They will begin to eliminate a lot of the cooked food they were provided when they were living with Joe's sister.  I expect to see a lot of runny noses and cold symptoms, soon, with the full moon up.

So much watermelon, durian, raw vegan pates, raw fruit and nut pies, mangos, salads, etc., etc.  I listened to one of Tim's wonderful demo CDs that had a song on it "Raw Food Boogie," which had us all dancing, even little Joy, the Andressohn's year-old daughter.

It was really hot outside and it was such an added blessing to be raw because I was not uncomfortable in the heat and humidity at all.

Two guests had added some olive and coconut oil to their salads, which I didn't eat, because it would have really made it impossible for me to stop sweating in the heat (especially at night) and would have made me very uncomfortable in the day, too.  Oil stops the circulation and electricity in the body.  It was so evident yesterday that it's a boon to be raw in this tropical heat.

A cold wave came in last night from the NW and the raw fooders put on jackets!  Tim even remarked how cold it was.  The people who were at the party who were cooked food eaters were comfortable.  I'm grateful that I have such perfect circulation, even though I do get cold when the temperatures are below 85!

I really made a pig out of myself on the durian and then realized what my body was doing.  It is SUCH a delicacy, but it was still dead.  It's like what would happen if I tried to eat baked yams or something like that;  I would end up with my stomach sticking out, but still be unsatisfied because of the lack of enzymes.  The durian had been frozen and the enzymes were long gone.  That's why my body was craving more and more but I wasn't getting satisfied, just stuffed.  I would like very much to eat some unfrozen durian and won't eat any more frozen.

So, we ate watermelon.  The children tried some berries on a tree that was called a strawberry tree.  The first bite really did taste like strawberry, even though it was a berry.

I'm going to make some veggiekraut today.  I want some every day of my life.

My monstera deliciosa are getting ripe now.  They take 20 months.

Peace and love,
Flora

Still trying to pay off the bail bond

Now that Joe and Lamoy are in their new home, they have not one dollar to spend for reducing the debt for their bail.  Please put out another plea for donations.

I already counsel people freely so cannot add that as a bonus; that free counseling is a given.

The only bonus extra I can think of is for someone to come and spend the weekend at the International Hostel in Florida City, and I'll go out with them to the Biscayne Underwater National Park and we can have a whole bunch of hours of visiting in the water!

The conditions that led to the Andressohns being reported

--- Dr. Flora Van Orden wrote:

Actually, in this neighborhood, 'the man' is not white. The neighbors who complained about the children were not white, they were fat African Americans and Spanish speaking. The children (and the mother and father) ARE 'off the chart small' because they are petite people; and terrifically healthy!

Dear Dr. Flora,

Ahh, I see. So the childrens relative petitness was a challenge of the status quo? Yes, I wonder, and you would know this as a doctor, how much the scales have been 'tipped' towards obesity as the norm? - so average correct weights for children are larger than they should be, and a society of fat people doesn't have to concern themselves with their overconsumption (of food and other
things), can look the other way instead of at themselves?

I recently had a raw-food friend in the Eugene area go on a fast with her young daughter. I didn't give her any complaint, as long as her daughter was okay with it. - who has been on raw foods since (before) she was born. Her daughter is also very 'thin' compared to normal, obese, neighboors and such, though very happy and healthy. Anyone who genuinely listens to her daughter
can hear this.

I regard your comment about meat consumption being linked with fear, not suspect, although pending on a number of other factors. You, meaning the plural you as well (U.S. middle and low income), are under the most successfull brain-washing propaganda campaign, probably in history.

Enhanced and expanded since the import of most of germanys' scientists of nazi propaganda (600 members), and initially under the control of the CIA, I currently find the florida neighboors fears coming entirely from meat consumption a little bit suspect. In europe, we eat meat and don't seem to have the pervasive level of fear, as most north americans, within the U.S.

I think fear must be very profitable! In an undemocratic society, to subvert the coffers to killing, propaganda/fear is important to maintain! Propaganda so successfull it does not appear to exist to many people.

In the democratic societies of germany and france, people here are much less concerned about other people's business, at least in the big city. I'm sure if the andressons were living here, they would get much less flack. Plus, people are so much skinnier here than in the U.S., the andressons children would blend right in.

This caused me to think about Jurgen Haas who was going around declaring children to be his (german law provides for this) so they could become german citizens, and get the educational and health benefits. I googled his name to find out more, and he comes up as a 'race-traitor' on the stormfront.org website, which has a list of George Orwell titles at the top, which then led me to http://www.exile.ru/2005-October-21/big_brothers.html, this article showing how, in fact, Orwell was a racist, and how Christopher Hitchens, featured on current north american news stumping for orwellian ideals, is his heir. Funny how these things link together!

With Cares,

In some oriental philosophies, the lowest chacre (in the bowels), is associated with fear and feath.  They seem to feel that eating dead food keeps us in that lowest.  Fresh fruits and fermented foods like seed and nut cheeses, pre-alcoholic fermented grain waters, and autolyzed starches (like sauerkraut) speed up the vibrations of our bodies and then we feel love and cannot assimilate reaction (fear and anger) because other's negative emotional waves flow through us and leave, whereas if we were reactive, the wave would collapse and this would be the beginning of dis-ease.

I've travelled to 41 various countries now to listen to the elders speak on the human condition and how to achieve peace.

Dr. Flora and the Andressohn family

[6/10/2006] Yesterday at 10 I was at court and became the legal guardian of Lamoy and Joe's precious Joy.  She is such a petit perfect little lady, smiling and calmly checking out everybody.  I reminded the judge that her BMI (body mass index) is perfect, even though she might be off the chart small because her parents are small yet perfect.  The whole court house seemed to respond with love to her and her parents.

I then kidnapped Lamoy and Joe and went to the ocean to celebrate in the waves with Joy.  She and I went to the store to pick up some wonderful raw food to bring home for the children. We then picked up their other children and took them to their first sight of their new home.  Joe had carefully placed fruit trees all around the fenced in back yard and flowers in the front and the children were so excited.  Someone had donated a whole living room set (couch, chair, end tables and coffee table) and the living room area looked lovely.  The wood in the pieces matched the wood of the dining room table and chairs.  All they need now is a green rug to pull it together and I looked in some thrift stores after I left their house for something.  I left some sheets, pillowcases and pillows and will bring some blankets today, even though they don't need them because it is 89!  Before I left, I went to a neighbor who donated 6 coconuts to me and I left them with Joe, who popped one open for me before I left them to enjoy each other.  Two more successful weekends like this and they will get their children home for good.  This all is happening so very much faster than anyone could have anticipated, and the doctors and judges, the people in the 'system' are all so happy for them and they all have tried so hard to help them in their journey.  We are all so blessed.  I will pick them up tomorrow for a picnic on the beach before we go back to return them to their caretaker.

Thank you again for all of your help in getting money to me so that their bail bond indebtedness to me is reduced. God is so good.  And, the raw food community is so loving.

The Andressohns have their children back

[6/13/2006] Welcome to the latest update of the Andressohn family, who were struck down by the State of Florida for feeding their children living food and partaking of a living food lifestyle! Great things are happening as we’re getting closer to reuniting the children with their parent’s full time! Yes indeed, you did read that correctly! Read on…

LATEST DONATION

We have been blessed with many people stepping up to the plate and helping the Andressohns. One of those is none other than Victoria Boutenko. Now we all know it takes a team effort to get a project off the ground and this is what the Raw Family is all about. Igor, Sergei and Valya also play very important roles. However, Victoria is the one behind the scenes doing massive amounts of research so she can bring you her new and refreshing ideas. In fact, her ideas and writing have been so grand that she has been nominated as a finalist for the Prestigious 2006 IPPY National Book Awards! WOW is all we can say here at RAW FRIENDS.

Victoria Boutenko has donated 1 case (60) of her Powerful book...”Green for Life” toward the Andressohn cause. Each one of these books will have a special emblem attached like the one above representing her nomination. As many of you know, the Andressohns have been on a mission to gain the company of their children after a daunting 30 months of no contact. If you’re not familiar with the case, you may visit http://www.rawfriends.com/andressohns.html to discover all the details. IN THE NEWS

I just hung up the phone with Lamoy Andressohn after she shared that the children are home for their first weekend. THANKS to all of you who have donated to this worthy cause. She also shared that they are in need of any household items to help furnish the house. But more important that this... she wanted me to say a very special thank you to everyone who has donated their time, money or any other donation for this beautiful cause. I have never met two people who are so thankful for the smallest help. When I call to share that a check is on the way…. they thank me over and over again. They say I’m an angel but that is not true. They are the angles for sitting on the HOT SEAT for 3 years while their children are being kept from them. These are truly humble people and I know when I need a tune up of how to love unconditionally and how to be humble…. I call the Andressohns. This is how they have won the courts' sympathy and compassion. They stand strong on their beliefs but they do it with pure Agape love. How beautiful!

Andressohn Family Update 6/10/2006

Joy's 1st Birthday
Joy's First Birthday

The Andressohn's are at a new address now. They had to move into a home in order for their children to come home to them, instead of a rented space in another's home. They are approximately 4 blocks from where they were before, on 171st in a wonderful yellow home. No furniture to speak of and I am going to take them down to the Catholic Church thrift store to get some this week.

I took her to the grocery store today to buy fresh produce to make dinners for some of her admirers who are finding good health now that they have switched to living and raw foods. She so carefully picks out the most beautiful produce and prepares it with love. Delicious nut pates and sea weed salads, delicious drinks and seed and nut cheeses. She is very tired because no one was able to help her move, but she was so excited to know that someone cared enough to send a check for $150 and another for $25, which has brought their [bail bond] total down to $2,100 plus a few cents...

God bless everyone,
Dr. Flora Flora

I just hung up the phone with Lamoy Andressohn after she explained what a wonderful visit she and her husband Joseph had on Tuesday. She also shared that they looked at a house for rent that had three bedrooms and two bathrooms with a back yard big enough to grow a garden. While Joseph is busy doing lawn care (sometimes 12 hours per day) Lamoy is preparing gourmet dishes for her clients. They have been living like church mice in order to save every penny so they can meet the court's requirements, thus allowing them to have the children every weekend from Friday evening to Monday morning, starting June 1st.

At the end of the summer they will have FULL custody and their family will be reunited after a 38 month battle.

What are the requirements?
- A working, reliable vehicle
- A home for everyone to live in
- Both parents working

What You Can Do

The Andressohns both have jobs and do have a vehicle, even though is does need some work. The next big step is the deposit for a new home. Andressohn Family Update 5/13/2006

Yesterday Lamoy, Joy and I spent the day at Biscayne Bay in the water and picking mulberries. We went to Farm Share and got food to share with our neighbors. I wish you could have seen us! Purple tongues, faces, hands and feet!

Tonight was the first birthday party for little Joy. She was the center of a lot of love at Tim Tye's home and surrounded with other children, toddlers, infants and loving adults. Lamoy made some of her famous nut loaf, salads from others, raw pies, and all kinds of great raw foods. A raw cake with mulberries was presented, we all sang "happy birthday" and she opened her presents. I gave her a little sun dress, hair clip and purse and carved a watermelon with her name on it.

There is a real stress on the family to get a home. There is a www.HomeTeam.com site where people will actually build a home for worthy recipients. Will you all write and their friends will get together and build it for them?

Peace and Love,
Dr. Flora Flora

Andressohn Family Update 5/6/2006

   Andressohn Family Photo

Dear Jim,

I spent the past 2 days with Lamoy and about 50% was helping her fix food for her gourmet raw food catering service. I didn't realize how much I had missed doing that. When I was at Murrieta Hot Springs in the '80s I fixed the salad bar for the children and then for the adults and had a ball. I think the greatest thing a woman can do is prepare some conscious food for her loved ones. Little Joy will be 1 year old on the 4th of May. She walks like a sailor, up and down steps now, and has her teeth biting and nibbling on lots of stuff, especially Championed mulberries! What a blessing it is to be around that family.

All that is keeping them from having their whole family together now is having a home, a dependable car. Someone has said a truck is available but it would take $800 to get it fixed and driveable. The house they have found is $1100/month. Is there anyone out there who has a smaller home on their property that they would rent them for a decent wage for a laborer who cleans/fixes up yards, perhaps $600 or 700? They pay child support now of $700 plus $400 for renting one bedroom in a home, and that home is being sold. I know that if we all get together and pray and tell people, something will come up.

Joe is working 7 days a week. He gave me $50 on the credit card payment for the bail money, and $10 to send to Mr. Huggins to retire the other half that I committed to, so at least half is paid now. He worked 12 hours Saturday.

Peace and Love,

Andressohn Family Update 4/29/2006

a Special Report by Steven Gibb of www.RawFriends.com

Welcome to the latest update of the Andressohn family, who were struck down by the State of Florida for feeding their children living food and partaking of a living food lifestyle!

Great things are happening as we're getting closer to reuniting the children with their parents full time! Yes indeed, you did read that correctly!

UP TO SPEED...

The last we heard, the Andressohns were able to have supervised visitation of one hour per week at a government facility. This is a facility where all of the interactions are monitored between the parents and the children. This started on January 10th, when Joseph and Lamoy were first allowed to visit their four beautiful children after 30 months of not seeing or hearing from them.

Ask yourself how you would handle such an upset in your life, i.e., your children being wrongfully stolen from you! Even though the Andressohns felt wrongfully accused, they followed every requirement to the letter of the law, knowing that this would be the only way to get the children back into their loving home.

HOW ARE THEY DOING...

Joseph has been working in lawn care, keeping his hands and feet as close to mother earth as possible. He's working with a neighbor, and now sees the value of turning this God-given talent into a livelihood. Joseph wants to venture out on his own to create a structured business making relationships with different clients, allowing him to generate an income for his family. However, his Toyota van seems to be challenged with some minor transmission problems, and he could sure use your help. We'll share an address to send a love offering regarding the repair of his van.

Lamoy has now taken her skills of preparing living food into building her own client base, teaching and coaching people how to achieve total wellness. Lamoy is a true pioneer and a woman with many skills. And she does all of this while still taking care of her 11-month-old baby girl, Joyah.

WHAT ABOUT JOYAH...

Joyah is still breast feeding after 11 months, and weighs a whopping 16.5 lbs. I heard her cooing in the background today as I spoke to Lamoy. Dr. Flora tells me that Baby Joyah is doing perfectly fine.

HOW ARE THE OTHER CHILDREN...

When asking the other children if they want to come back and live with their parents, their answer was this: “We would like to live with you and Aunt Mary 50/50. When asked why they still want to live with Aunt Mary, their answer was, ”We like the food better at Aunt Mary's.”

Note: Two of the children said these things. One wants to come home full time, under any conditions.

Now, I don't know what you're thinking, but I smell some serious programming going on. Remember, these children have been with Aunt Mary for almost 3 years, and there were many times Aunt Mary seemed to be against the Andressohns during the original trial. Why did this happen? It's my opinion that she fell in love with the children because of their likable nature, and didn't know how to let go. In relating to the Andressohns lately, Aunt Mary has been much more positive. Please pray for this situation.

IN COURT...

On April 18th the Andressohns were once again in the hot seat, placing their lives in the court's hands. They were pleading with the court to allow them an extra hour each week. After the judge listened to all the testimony, she granted them this extra hour.

BUT WAIT...

That's not all! She also granted the Andressohns full weekends with their children, starting at the end of May, when school gets out. She also ordered that the children will be reunited with the parents full time at the end of the summer, just before they go back to school.

If some of you remember some of the facts from the original story, you will clearly remember Dr. Lambert telling the court that the children had rickets. On the 18th the judge asked him how he felt today about this case and the Andressohns, and he told the court, ”Even though I was on the opposite side, Joseph and Lamoy always gave me the time of day, no matter what was going on.” He then went on to ask the judge PLEASE to return the children to these parents, as this has gone on long enough.

He also added that they were very capable of taking care of their children.

With that said, we still desire help to pay Dr. Flora for all the money she put up regarding the bail. (125,000) You may go to http://www.rawfriends.com/donations.htm and share your heartfelt donation with us and receive a gift of equal value. Or you can just donate from your heart. You may also donate directly to Dr. Flora at this address:

Dr. Flora Van Orden
PO Box 900963
Homestead, FL 33090

If you would like to donate directly to the Andressohns for help in repairing their van, this would be most helpful allowing Joseph to forge ahead to build his lawn care business and give the family some stability.

Please send your donations for the van to this address:

Joseph Andressohn
10740 SW 175th street
Miami FL 33157

If you have questions or would like to speak to the Andressohns please e-mail me and I'll get you in touch with them! They love getting support from new people and are wonderful to converse with.

STIPULATIONS...

Even though this all looks good on paper, we still desire some help achieving certain conditions of the court. The court has requested that the Andressohns have three items secure in their life before bringing the children back home. This is where YOU come in!!!

First and foremost is solid work, toward which both Joseph and Lamoy have been diligently working. They have the desire to work, and, as I shared earlier, Joseph is striving to be in business for himself.

This brings up the second stipulation, which is a reliable vehicle. The vehicle is needed for many reasons, and most importantly to provide safety and reliability for the children as a family unit. Lamoy will also use the van when she has to deliver her living food to some of her clients, and Joseph will need this vehicle to transport some of his tools for his lawn care business. As you can see, many aspects of their life surround a reliable vehicle, so I once again urge you to consider donating directly to this cause.

Last on the list, and surely not the least, would be adequate housing. Joseph and Lamoy are very confident they can and will provide a wonderful loving environment in a home that's good for everyone. The best way to do this is having a reliable vehicle, so the burden of a breakdown is no longer an issue.

WHOSE LIVES HAVE THEY TOUCHED...

When I was speaking to Lamoy today, we were sharing about what a journey this has been, and it's far from over. Even though they have been SO blessed with many wonderful gifts and people, Lamoy has asked for your prayers regarding the appeal of the neglect charges.

Super powerhouse attorney Justice Fields is back in the game, writing briefs for the appeal, every day knowing we're coming closer and closer. Also remember that the judge did appoint attorney Ellis Rubin and his partner to represent the Andressohns on the appeal. This was a miracle in itself, and we're so very pleased. BUT its not time to rest on these winnings and miracles, rather to step up to the plate and turn up the heat even more. Tap into the power of God, asking for His mighty blessings to bring justice to the Andressohns.

We have touched many lives with this case, and there are so many more to touch. We are seed planters, just as others who have walked this earth were, and it's our duty to continue on.

Lamoy was sharing that when she leaves the house, venturing into public places, people from all walks of life approach her on a daily basis. They say things like, “Thanks for hanging in there,” and “We've been praying for you the entire time.” Others will say, ”It's great that you are standing up for yourselves.”

Lamoy tells me she is approached by many people every day, knowing that she is touching so many lives for the stand she and Joseph are taking.

THE BOTTOM LINE...

We are prevailing, and will continue to do so as we forge ahead, but still desire your help with all the above mentioned items. Prayer is the most powerful item on the list, and we know all of you can pray. Thank you for your prayers.

Secondly is your heartfelt donation for the Andressohns, allowing them the flexibility to bring their van to safe standards, thus allowing them to conform with the court's stipulation that they have a reliable vehicle.

And, thirdly, we would ask that you think about anyone in the Miami area who may be able to help the Andressohns directly with some of their challenges. Maybe you know someone who owns a vehicle and would donate it to the Andressohns. The donator would receive a much larger tax break from a donation than from selling the vehicle to a private party.

On a final note, Lamoy asked me to thank personally each and every one of you for your support, and mostly for your prayers!

Andressohn Family Update 4/22/2006

Flora wrote on 4/18: Today I was picked up by Joe in his old van (it had to stop and cool off 5 times before we got to the family court!) and after we picked up Lamoy and the adults went into the court, I played with 11 month old Joy for a few hours until they came out, beaming!

The judge listened to their baby's doctor and listened to the results of their psychological tests and the therapists who have monitored their family visitations and got word to everyone that they will be able to have weekend visits from their children and that things are moving so quickly because they are such good parents.

The baby is so healthy, although petit, and Lamoy is fixing food for the pediatrician and his wife. As I told them, the more people who are touched by their lives, and the more people who eat their food and who get to know them, the more they will be loved and supported.

That their baby was born with a birth defect (diGeorge syndrome) is nothing that anyone can undo and so they are moving on to family reconciliation because everyone knows how nutritious their food is for their family.

Bless everyone who has helped them financially.

They looked at a van today. Perhaps someone has an old vehicle large enough for 4 children out there that they are not using?

Peace and Love,
Dr. Flora Flora

A letter from Dr. Flora:

Jim,

Joe and Lamoy have been having serious trouble with their living expenses now that they have to pay child support for their 4 children, and they have not been able to pay the $80/month for 6 months now for me to pay for their bond money that is still outstanding, over $3,600 in total.

Is it possible you could put the word out over the network and have people donate small amounts in checks (like $10, 15 or 25) that are made out in my name?

I am really having troubles myself right now because of sharing my food with a sick friend who has come to me for help a couple of weeks ago. This is very hard for me to ask of you. The 3 trips I made to NCI at NIH to support my daughter in her treatment and get some energy soup and pineapple juice started in the wing of the hospital for the immune enhancement protocol last month has really put me behind.

You know the people to give this information to: the ones who want to help others who are already trying as hard as they can.

God bless.

Flora

Andressohn Family Update 1/19/2006

Dear Andressohn Family Supporters,

At long last, the online journal, "Nutrition," published the case report today. They included the three excellent figures of the nutrient intake of the infant, commercial formulas, and breast milk at the end without coordinating the figures with the labels (located before the four tables). I will ask them to correct this.

The statement: "David Cundiff, M.D. took a great interest in the case and has written a medical/nutritional case study which is about to be published. Its thesis is that a raw food vegan diet is appropriate for an infant and the Andressohn children provided the data," requires clarification. I would say that the position of the American Dietetic Association and American Academy of Pediatric that a raw food vegan diet is not recommended for children and infants is consensus-based rather than evidence-based. There are no data with which to determine the appropriateness. Even in this case, a proper laboratory assessment of the nutritional status of the infant and children was not done. Consequently, there is no evidence that the infant or any of the children had inadequate nutrient intakes or medical problems due to diet.

Hopefully, this case report will help with appeal of the neglect conviction. Here is the URL: www.nutritionj.com/content/pdf/1475-2891-5-1.pdf .

Thanks to all for your help and concern.

Best wishes,
David Cundiff

[You don't have to read the entire report - the abstract alone tells the story. Dr. Cundiff's study traced the roots of the American Dietetic Association's conclusion that live food diets are too restrictive for infants. He found that their conclusion lacked scientific support and was merely a consensus-based conclusion. Yes, more research is needed in this area, but Dr. Cundiff pressed the ADA to at least acknowledge the nature of its conclusion in future drafts of its Position Paper on Vegetarian diets. - Jim ]

Andressohn Family Update - The Reunion 1/14/2006

- by Steven Gibb, www.RawFriends.com

Background - The Andressohns won in Florida Family Court months ago, being found Not Guilty of the four counts of neglect. One of the prosecutors resigned because he felt the charges were unjust. But then they had to face the charges again, this time as criminal charges. After a week of testimony the Andressohns were convicted of the same charges of neglect that the Family Court had exonerated them from. The jury saw that there was no manslaughter, but many in the courtroom believe that the jury felt they had to convict the Andressohns of “something,” and the neglect charge was the least of the charges against them.

On Tuesday, January 10th, Lamoy and Joseph Andressohn walked into a therapist's office, by court order, to see their children, after being apart for 30 months, since June, 2003. Now, I'm sure those of you with children must be pondering, "What would it be like to have my child taken away?!" I don't have any children so I'm not able to have empathy, but I can have sympathy. (Even the judge made comments on how the children looked healthy.)

Joseph and Lamoy were able to interact with all of them in the therapist's lobby. Everyone was happy, and hugging, and a bit overwhelmed. After forty-five minutes of bliss, it was time to spend one hour of supervised time with the therapist. One by one, the children were brought into the room by themselves, and allowed to interact with Joe and Lamoy. After the private sessions they were allowed to visit as a family together.

I asked Lamoy what it was like, and what was said. Yahshwah, 9 years old, said, "You and Dad are the best parents in the whole world!” … It brought tears to my eyes. Yahshwah was the superstar who held the family together while his siblings were wondering what would happen next. He kept the dream alive that they would all reunite, and here they were, touching, squeezing and chatting with each other. Yahshwah is our hero.

Mykahyah is almost 7. He was a bit shy, but warmed up after seeing his siblings accept the situation. When Mykahyah was in the courtroom with the judge, he was asked, “What do you want to be when you're older?” Mykahyah answered that he wanted to be "an investigator, and a good one!" I had to laugh at this answer, because even the 7-year-old knew when a prosecutor was lying. He also said he wanted to be an inventor, and create a car that flies.

Benyah, age 6, was all over Joseph and Lamoy like a monkey in a tree. He has no inhibitions, and was very happy to see his parents once again. He was the life of the party, and wanted to hold the baby. He was truly the bright light in the room.

Last but not least was the innocent smile of Rahyah, who is now 4. This was the toughest reunion of all, when you think about how young she was when she was taken from her parents. However, she warmed up quickly, and is counting on being reunited with her parents.

The Andressohns will see all their children once a week until the hearing in February, which will determine how often they can see them. Lamoy was under the impression that they would all be reunited after about 6 months.

I asked Lamoy if it was all worth it, and what was she feeling? They are on probation for 15 years, which can be a long time. I asked if they wished to return to Jamaica. In a snap she answered, “No, I wouldn't do that. I don't want to run, as I have done nothing wrong, and I want to be free.”

I knew that was going to be her answer, but I wanted to see if I was still speaking to the same Lamoy I had known for the last year-and-a-half. This woman taught me so much about unconditional love and humility that I owe her for the rest of my life. Whenever I'm in doubt I call Lamoy and learn these lessons over again. It still amazes me that she holds no animosity toward anyone who has harmed her and her family. What a beautiful soul.

As of now, the Andressohns no longer wear electronic ankle bracelets, they are no longer under house arrest, and can now drive freely to Whole Foods and get their organic produce. Before this, they were only allowed 2 hours per week to shop. They now have a small piece of their life back, that was stolen for over 30 months. I want to thank everyone from the depths of my heart! YOU made this possible by donating money, time, or just by spreading the word. Even though all of these great things have happened, we still have a long way to go.

AN APPEAL…

Joe and Lamoy are appealing their convictions, which will take another one to two years. The attorneys on the case did all of this Pro Bono (for free). Andrew Fields and his wife Deer, both vegans, moved from California to Florida so they could work with Miami attorney Ellis Rubin, who also did this case Pro Bono. Now the judge has appointed Ellis and his partner as attorneys for the appeal. What does this mean? It means that the court will be paying the attorney fees, guaranteeing the Andressohns fair representation.

HOWEVER… this doesn't mean we don't still need your financial support! The Andressohns had to give up their home and are now living in a single room in the house of a friend. Joseph has a new job and is working very hard to get caught up, preparing a place for his childrens' arrival. Please consider helping them financially by donating at www.rawfriends.com/donations.htm. We'll give you a gift(s) of equal value to the donation you send!

THANK YOU!!!

Andressohn Family Update 12/24/2005

From Dr. Flora van Orden III, our Miami courthouse correspondent:

Jim, they were placed on 15 years probation and their lawyers are appealing. This will likely go to the Supreme Court. The judge asked that their electronic ankle bracelets be removed. He said that they have to go to family counseling (the whole family, aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc.), the children have to go to public school, they have to get inoculations, psychological evaluations for the parents, and add soy to their diets, which will be prescribed by the nutritionist appointed by the court.

Recent press articles:

(Miami Herald) "A vegan diet is very healthy, but it's not as healthy as a 100 percent raw foods diet, according to what I've read and according to the way I feel,'' Joseph Andressohn said. He said his goal is to be reunited with his children, now cared for by an aunt: www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/news/13418990.htm.

Andressohn Family Update 11/12/2005

 - from Dr. Flora van Orden III

Dr. Flora van Orden III was Dr. Ann Wigmore's long-time assistant, secretary, and traveling companion. Flora has been a staunch supporter of the Andressohns from the time of their arrest, and was in court with them all week.

The backstory: chiDiet.com/news/LivingFoodsNews20051105.htm.

This will bring you up to date on the trial. First off, I need to ask you for help in finding Dr. Harvey Lisle for us. Dr. Lisle lives in Norwalk, CT, and he did the breakdown of food for the government and for some of Dr. Wigmore's specialties. We also need him to show that the foods are adequate.

1. It is my and the witness nutritionist's opinion that the diet was adequate (more than). The person who did the autopsy and the Medical Examiner DID NOT EVER talk to the parents and DID NOT HAVE a list of the foods that the baby ate, and the food that was given to the state was NOT EVEN ANALYZED IN THEIR LAB to determine what the nutritional components and benefits were, yet they stated in court that the diet was inadequate! Unfortunately, when a person eats raw/living foods, neither the enzymes nor the electrical current can be 'weighed', 'ashed' and analyzed, right? For instance, if I were to try to eat a baked potato, I would probably end up stuffing my face with a dozen or more and still come away feeling unsatisfied, whereas a small amount of some blueberries, watermelon or some microgreens would leave me satisfied because of the cell regenerative oxygen, living water, living energy/enzymes in the latter.

2. The prosecutor is stating that the baby's body cannibalized itself because of malnourishment. Dr. Ehret said that a body does not eat up one's organs in a state of fasting and that the fat disappears, but the organs remain the same. I would add, the organs would not lose weight unless parasites were eating it. In the baby, my understanding is that the organs were of normal weight for the baby's size and other things were normal, except for the lack of thymus.

3. The person who did the autopsy said that the baby had t- (thymus) cells and that proves that the baby had a thymus. It is my understanding that t-cells originate in the spleen. Like the fact that gall stones originate in the liver. Is there anyone out there that can verify that? If that is true, then the baby could still have t-cells yet have no thymus. A famous geneticist from Miami testified that the baby had a birth defect (DiGeorge) without a thymus.

4. The coconut water that Lamoy was giving her baby (along with many other things smashed up to make a puree, and blended to make it easily assimilable) contains lauric acid which is used by the body to make the same disease-fighting fatty acid derivative monolaurin that babies make from the lauric acid they get from their mother's milk. The monoglyceride monollauric is the substance that keeps infants from getting viral or bacterial or protozoal infections and supplies the bifidus-like factor that mother's milk does. This important benefit has been largely overlooked by the medical and nutritional communities. There are women worldwide who feed their babies coconut water when they cannot breast feed, along with nut milks and avocado to build up to the 50% fat that a baby needs, as Lamoy did. Without a thymus, the baby might not have been able to assimilate the ingredients from the wonderful assortment of foods that she was given, but as Annette and others testified, the baby did not look like those pictures even a week earlier. Price-Pottinger has done wonderful research on coconuts.

I gave the press a copy of Steven's photos of the Andressohn children (darling, healthy, fat cheeks, intelligent) compared to REALLY malnourished children from Africa. I hope that it was a plus. I appreciate him sending it to me. There is so much misinformation here that it's criminal. The press keeps using wheatgrass as the only food the baby was given. They have not even bothered to find out the truth. Pray for acquittal. The judge, when he was reading the instruction to the jury, said that the only reason this is going to the jury is because the children were off the charts as far as their being of normal height and weight. When you see the parents (she is a size 1), one does not have to wonder why! They are genetically very small people. But, BIGGGGG hearts. I would like to be her baby if I ever have to 'come back' again. She is a super parent as far as I'm concerned and as well read as I am, perhaps.

5. The black and other colors of molds that were being fought in the apartment has never been addressed. They had to sign a release when they moved in that they would not sue the owners if they got sick. The rugs were still wet from the Kilz and Chlorox and other chemicals the landlord had brought in. Lordy, I would have died. Babies are so sensitive to that kind of thing, far more than adults. I could not use Kilz on my home because of the smell and it made me sick when I smelled it in the store.

6. The fact that the ambulance attendants gave 2 medicines to the baby that were not adjusted for her mucus-free diet and size probably killed her (it would have killed me). Medicines have to work their way through the mucoid plaque of the SAD diet people, and have to be diluted for mucus-free people. When I got electrocuted touching the wire in SLC, I refused 2 drugs in the ambulance and they forced saline on me and because I was salt free, the capillaries in my feet shriveled from the puckering and calcium (read "calming") in my body went south to my urine, my feet began to get really cold and I started to die from the feet up. To introduce something alien to a body already in stress can be fatal. If it had not been for my son, Brent, who came to the hospital and got me out of there fast, I would have died.

Thank you for letting people know about this.

Peace and love,
Flora

After more than two years of buildup, when the Andressohns were acquitted here's all the Miami Herald had to say: www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/13105791.htm. This was the only article on the subject that I found on the newsfeeds, and at that, only on AP. CNN had a bit more of the story, but was biased in their coverage: www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/11/08/child.starved. There were lots of long stories about the case before the trial, in the Herald: www.second-opinions.co.uk/miami_death.html, and: www.courttv.com/trials/andressohn/101805_background_ctv.html, and www.courttv.com/trials/andressohn/101905_ctv.html, among others. This story was more balanced: www.rawfoodinfo.com/articles/art_Andressohnstory.html.

Andressohn Family Update 11/05/2005

 - an editorial by Jim Carey

The Andressohns were in court most of this week. Lots transpired, as those of you following the case on Court TV witnessed. But before I begin --- some background:

Every time I do an article about the Andressohns I get nastygrams about them starving and abusing their kids. These letters are all based upon misperceptions created by the mass media, and are far from being true. ("There are, in effect, two things: to know and to believe one knows. To know is science. To believe one knows is ignorance." - Hippocrates). Here's the backstory of the Andressohns:

Here are some photos of the Andressohn children dating from before they were removed from their home by Family Services: chiDiet.com/news/andr1.jpg and chiDiet.com/news/andr2.jpg (thanks to Steven Gibb for sharing these with us).

A nice summary of the case was written as an essay by Storm Talifero.

For scientific data supporting a Raw Vegan diet, one of the best new books out there is T. Colin Campbell's summary of his 45 years of studying food and nutrition as a National Institute of Health, American Institute for Cancer Research, and American Cancer Society researcher, The China Study. There's also good information on the Raw Food Network.

Now, the news:

Dr. Flora van Orden III was Dr. Ann Wigmore's long-time assistant, secretary, and traveling companion. Flora has been a staunch supporter of the Andressohns from the time of their arrest, and was in court with them all week.

On Wednesday she contacted me about an audio tape that she and Dr. Ann made back in the 80's about child diets and nutrition. I dug through my Dr. Ann archives and found it, and overnighted her and the Andressohns some copies of the tape.

From Dr. Flora on Tuesday: "Please pray for me and ask all of the others on your list to do the same if they are so moved. I wish I had lots of people in court today to support us, but if God is on our side, who can be afraid?"

Dr. Flora on Wednesday: "I showed the tape to the lawyer and he said there was some legal reason he couldn't play it - who knows? Well, we tried. But I feel the jury was so turned off by the theatrics of the state's lawyer today, that it's all over and the Andressohn's have won. The geneticist said it was a simple case of birth defect and the nutritionist said the diet of the children was adequate."

My response: "... I wonder if CNN, et. al., will pick this up, or conveniently ignore it..."

Dr. Flora on Thursday: "This is just like what happened with Dr. Ann, when she wanted to prove that her cat knew better than Dr. Earp Thomas' labs, which grass was best. They both proved that northwest winter wheat was the best. She demurred to his going 'first' with his lab work and then a cat, a dog and a feral cat chose the same! You can't argue with science, huh! When it's pure science. I'm so grateful to God that I got a chance to talk with the geneticist and the nutritionist before they went on the stand and filled the latter with miracle stories about Dr. Ann and my healings with selves and others."

Dr. Flora on Friday: "It's not over yet. The Andressohns continue to need our prayers and support, but I'm optimistic that they'll be acquitted."

If anybody has a copy of the Court TV proceedings, Dr. Flora and I would love to have a copy. You can contact me at editor@chiDiet.com.
