Found on the Web

Because of Libby and Sabastian's illness and upcoming medical treatments, I will not be able to afford to go to the Ann Wigmore Institute next summer as originally hoped. For now, I ordered and have now received the home study course though http://www.chidiet.com/.

Not sure if it carries the same "street cred" as attending one of the institutes but it certainly covers the same material. I have a lot of respect for the Ann Wigmore lifestyle even though I take issue with her main theory -- enzymes as the holy grail of why this lifestyle improves health.

Diabetes and Simply Raw

A quick note about two things:

#1 - The World Diabetes Day special bonus on RawFor30Days.com has been extended until this Wednesday.  Once midnight strikes on Wednesday night the $261.78 of bonuses will no longer be available with your purchase of the film "Simply Raw: Reversing Diabetes in 30 Days" film.

So if you haven't picked up a copy yet, or know of somebody that needs this information, please make sure to do so before then to get the bonuses.

#2 - Tera Warner and Amy De Wolfe, otherwise known as "The Raw Divas" are adding a special Holiday bonus, a Holiday Menu Planner!  This will be the 17th bonus!  Wow!  This is a menu plan full of delicious recipes so that you can have a Raw Christmas this year.

If you've already purchased and downloaded the other bonuses you can go back to the same site to get this new bonus.  If you don't have that link any more just forward them your purchase receipt and they will send you the link again (but check your emails first as you should have received the link via email before).

Here's the link to read more about this new bonus and all of the other bonuses:

Found on the Web 2

“I just can't live like this any more. It seems the more I try to be raw, the more I sabotage myself. I did find a nice page on the Raw Living Foods site called Backsliders Corner. Jim Carey offers great advice on how to cope with backsliding on the way to raw.

”I leave you with words of wisdom from Jim: "Living Foods is a journey, not a destination.""

”Here's to the journey.”

Exciting Times - Hanging with Raw Friends

[- A good article I found while websufing - Jim]

EXCITING TIMES - I hang out with friends
September 27, 2007

I went to Lesa’s Full Moon Ladies’ Night Out tonight. We all ended up chatting about the raw food meeting on Monday night, and then we wound up talking about rules and gurus who put out rules and then turn out to not be following them, themselves, i.e., gurus who are not 100% raw, and then gurus who say that their way is the only way.

Until this year, I had never associated in person with raw foodies, and my experienced in “organized” raw foodism has been unusual, to say the least. I have been lucky to meet some very nice people on the mailing list I have been involved in for the past two years, and one, Lesa, is right here in NYC, so now I have a raw food friend in-person. I’ve been happily trundling along, doing what seemed right (I think they now call that intuitive eating), and suddenly, I have encountered all sorts of ways that are the one and only right way to be raw. Some people say food should be eaten in its original state, not processed at all – ah, but that is an old one — when I was starting out, the only people who hewed to that one were men who, it seemed to me, were too lazy to fix their food. My first raw food information came from the Fathmans’ book — they were making up things as they went along — there had been no personable discussions of raw food published, and, to my knowledge, no recipe books. The Fathmans were inspired by Arnold Ehret’s teachings, and just took the information and ran with it. I resonated with what they had to say, and enjoyed some of their recipes (this was in the days before dehydrators, and, I think, in the first days of the Champion juicer). Soon after that, Ann Wigmore began publishing. I found her information and I found my niche. Wigmore had her own ideas, based on proper food combining, and then some. I did not need to explore further. I just kept on going. Now, I find that I am supposed to want to be 80/10/10, but, I’m sorry, folks, I already have a religion.

I like living in New York City. I do not want to move to a farm right now or even in the foreseeable future. (I have already been a hippie and done that route… the Birkenstocks, the flowy skirts, the long hair, the no make-up — been there, done that, a long time ago.) I live in a big city on a small income, so I cannot afford to fly off for two weeks to learn about the latest version of Ann Wigmore’s plan (although I was fortunate enough to be able to manage Lillian Butler’s very fairly priced, very accessible, very community-oriented, very Wigmore-based Raw Soul program - www.rawsoul.com ), which I highly recommend to anyone who can easily get to New York City one Monday evening a week for a month). Recently, I have been reading Brenda Cobb’s book, in which she details her conversion and understanding of Ann Wigmore’s program. I am loving this book. I immediately looked her up, but her program’s price is way far out of my league (unless I win the Lotto — only problem, I don’t play). I looked at the place she went to learn what she learned about the program: the Ann Wigmore Foundation — http://www.wigmore.org/ — and found their prices much more manageable (I will still have to work hard for two years to manage a trip there — there are other more immediate pressing matters I have to save up for first, before I can manage a vacation where I will learn what Lillian Butler has already taught me.) there are other offshoots of the original Ann Wigmore Institute, all with variations on the name. If one is inclined to study at a distance, there is the www.chidiet.com program, which faithfully follows Ann Wigmore’s ideas, and allows one to study at home, at highly reasonable prices (this is the program I want to do next).

Meanwhile, I think it is worthwhile for anyone to go raw any way they can. Once you go raw, you will start to find ideas, and you will find ideas that work for you. If you are a person who wants to find a new religion, you will find someone preaching the one that works for you. If you are a person like me, you will find something that seems to make sense to you, and you will do that.

In the end, at our gathering, we decided to agree that

1- it is better to be raw.

2 - if you cannot be raw all the time, you should be raw as much of the time as you can.

3 - 75% raw is better than no percent raw.

4 - If you cannot find organic fruit and vegetables, you can still be raw.

When I complimented Margaret on her blog, she responded:

hey! thanks so much for listening!!! I love you even more!!!! (now you know about my secret crush on you!) seriously.. thanks for your comments on my blog... and the photo...

isn't it cool??? (I am not a NATIVE New Yorker, but I have now lived here more of my life than I have lived anywhere else.. and that photo just reminds me of the street where I had my first hypnosis training ... at the end was the World Trade Center... so the photo is like a photo of me and my old friends who have since gone on....)

I don't think I can live anywhere else, but I am so intrigued by your farm in Georgia... (my big non-secret is that I was born in Georgia - the only member of my family to not be born in Virginia... and my dear grandfather, by always calling me "his Georgia Peach" kindled a sort of curiosity about Georgia in me... I don't know much more than I have been able to learn in the Atlanta airport and, once, when I was presenting at a conference, in the Savannnah river walk area) Never mind all that... I am a New Yorker, so I am proud that you like my blog header... and even prouder that you like what I am doing...
all that said...

I will be on the lookout for the arrival of your latest edition, and let you know what I think once I do see it.

thanks
Margare

Dr. Flora's new blog

James,

A wonderful friend has set up a blog for me because it seems that I am repeating myself over and over trying to answer questions from all over the world and I need to find a better way.

As I have learned from the two wonderful men who published the two different e-books for me, It seems when I try to sit down and write a pamphlet or booklet, that it doesn't work half as well as if someone asks me a question and then I can go off on that. So, if you have any people who would like to learn more about Dr. Wigmore's techniques/life/thoughts, then just have them write to drflora3rd.com and ask me and I will do my best to fill them in.

I am very busy in the daytime trying to organize classes to teach the staff, parents and children of the YWCA's day care centers about wellness and good nutrition, but as you know, the living food lifestyle leaves a lot of hours left over to do other things.

I have said that I took a vow never to charge for my services as a doctor if it had anything to do with Dr. Wigmore's Living Food Program, but since then, I've learned a lot from the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, and Earth Save, not about what to eat, but about what not to eat (even though I don't eat those things anymore), I can at least try to explain, in layman's terms, what the doctors have no time to do, unless they are involved with PCRM@PCRM.com or the many websites that they have started, about diabetes, or heart disease reversal or prevention or their NutritionMD website where doctors can learn about nutrition.

Perhaps, with your input, I can write some little pamphlets and booklets and sell them over the internet and thereby gain some passive income. It is great to learn and great to teach, and many doctors are very receptive. This is a great time of coming together and sharing. Thank you for your input and help.

It's important that we work toward changing the government's guidelines. No children should be given pasteurized/homogenized milk 3 times a day like the government now requires.

It's important that we give our physicians a copy of the book that PCRM is making available to all 2nd year medical doctors now about what foods to recommend or restrict for optimum reversal and prevention of disease.

It's important that we listen to the doctors in their twice-a-month teleconference from PCRM to see how they are trying hard to educate themselves about nutrition. I am SO excited about what I've heard so far.

Peace and Love,
Flora
