Feedback - Home Study Program

Feedback - Anne Lareau

Thank you! I greatly appreciate your site and personal efforts. I have chosen alternative medicine only. I am 100% raw, doing weekly enema's, & wheatgrass & trying to change my lifestyle in every way (more sleep, exercise, lower stress, etc.).

Again, thanks for telling the truth.

After 8 months on chiDiet Home Study Program

Thanks for the info, I usually chop sprouts up straight from my sprout-er to my processor and add several veggies I need to use to keep fresh. I have been a chef or into food prep and service since 1975 when I was 14. I would love to share with anyone but the problem I have is in a automobile accident in 1977 I crushed my voice box and have a rebuilt vocal cord which makes it hard for people to understand.

After multiple fractures in an accident in the Colorado mountains the final straw was an accident in the Artic rupturing two disks and bulging another. After not able to get on my feet for almost 8 months and adding almost 100 lbs on the SAD diet I considered gastric bypass.

I approached Bishop LaDonna Osborn about her opinion on the surgery and she insisted very seriously to read a book "Become Younger" and I immediately started searching for more info.

That is when I discovered CHI training DVDs. They have changed my life, a year ago I tried to prepare a breakfast for 30 orphans from the African Children's Choir. I could barely walk with crutches to leave. I was in so much pain I could barely move or get out of bed for days.

Last month after 8 months on the CHI raw food program I am down 40lbs and was able to feed hundreds of people and prepare a food demonstration at our Health Fair and am now teaching classes on Monday nights on Raw Foods and carry all my equipment up and down from a second floor apt. Vita-mix, Excalibur 9 tray dehydrator, food processor and cutting boards and all food. The arthritis, fused bones and lack of energy is all gone.

Two years ago a Doctor put me on a low-carb high protein diet that almost killed me. I spent 8 days hospitalized with pancreatitus.

Thank God for CHI training,

Thank you Jim,

Hi Jim,

Thanks for calling and taking the time to visit with me today! I am really looking forward to starting on the next leg of my journey and feel this is the right choice to provide the tools of understanding that I need to embrace a program.

Because of Libby and Sabastian's illness and upcoming medical treatments, I will not be able to afford to go to the Ann Wigmore Institute next summer as originally hoped. For now, I ordered and have now received the home study course though http://www.chidiet.com/.

Not sure if it carries the same "street cred" as attending one of the institutes but it certainly covers the same material. I have a lot of respect for the Ann Wigmore lifestyle even though I take issue with her main theory -- enzymes as the holy grail of why this lifestyle improves health.

Raw Live in Yuma

Dear Dr. Carey,

Here's the synopsis (sort of) that you asked for of what's going on down here.

In Yuma there is a lady who is a wife and the mom of three boys. Six years ago, when I was terribly ill
and debilitated, and needed to find organic food, I was referred to V. as someone who could help me order from a food co-op.

Thus began a friendship, in the course of which my family and I have been the recipients of consistent generosity from V., in the forms of her time, her food, her possessions and her love, whenever they have stood to benefit us. For two of our births she was present, and waited on me hand and foot throughout the labors. She is like this with everybody who is around her who needs anything.

V. has been pretty much a vegetarian and has preferred whole foods. She has been a yoga teacher, and a homeopathic pharmacist.

A year ago she was diagnosed with an ovarian tumor. She tried to fix this with emotional work and spiritual work. She paid attention to diet, but not in a living foods way, and avoided living dark leafy greens, and didn't seem interested when the subject of a health institute came up, or a home study course. She seemed very much better at times, but this spring and summer she started getting very sick and debilitated again. She entered the medical system, getting blood periodically, getting a cancer diagnosis, having at least two strokes, several seizures and numerous complications from the cancer and from the drugs for the cancer and from the drugs for the complications.

Three weeks ago V. was given a prognosis of less than six months to live, and her doctor called hospice. That day our family happened to order the CHI Home Study Course manual for ourselves. When we found out that hospice had been called, we asked V. whether she would like to have someone's help implementing this home study course for her. She immediately was very interested, and between the homeschool group and the food co-op group, everybody began stepping in to make the stuff in the manual. We hadn't gotten the videos yet.

At that time she appeared in many ways as though almost all the life had gone out of her. She could not move in her bed, her eyes were glazed, staring straight ahead, barely able to squeak out one syllable of a whisper, unable to hold down any liquid. Then she began to sip kombucha (which she was used to drinking, but since has stopped because of it being not recommended by someone who was familiar with Ann Wigmore's practices). We had to hold the straw up to her mouth. She held it down. A couple days later I put a small amount of freshly juiced cabbage into her kombucha. She held it down.

By this day she was getting from her bed to the recliner in the living room and visiting there. Next day I made her a fruit smoothie because she would not accept the greens. She drank four ounces, and another four.

Next day I made her a smoothie with some greens in it (I said she had to). She drank it: four ounces, then another four, and another, and on and on until she had drunk 24 ounces. She kept it down. (Now her smoothies are in line with energy soup ingredients.) Before the week was up, she had dropped out of hospice and had gone to spend the next few days at another family's home, where there the mom was able to follow the CHI manual and take care of her, since V.'s husband had to keep working.

When she got home others had begun to organize. We had white-bread-peanut-butter mamas making rejuvelac, gooey-lasagna-baking moms making veggie-kraut, cassarole-baking moms dropping off celery and raw almonds at the house, fast-food-taco-slurping mamas organizing a car wash (to help replace the income of the following friend), and one friend has indefinitely stopped working in order to be in V.'s home full time to make food and grow sunflower greens and prepare enemas and take her into the sunshine, etc.

V.'s husband is working furiously to pay bills. Some of us have prayed over her and with her, as have our family's pastor and his wife.

V. is taking some herbal and vitamin supplements, and recently she decided to do a juice fast for a couple weeks, but she has had a hard time sticking to that juice fast, and probably will resume sooner than later the Ann Wigmore ideas about what to consume.

Meanwhile there has been an individual who goes waaaay back with Ann Wigmore's teachings who has been answering my emails (you know who you are!) [Dr. Flora van Orden III] every time as to question that V. has had, and those of the people taking care of her. Additionally, this person immediately had put in the mail a personal copy of all the videos to borrow. This all has been a tremendous help with regard to clarification and encouragement.

Also meanwhile, Dr. Jim Carey has shared time, info. and experiences on the phone to help out in this situation, including rushing us the videos which we decided to purchase (so we could send back the borrowed ones), and another manual and more videos, which we also bought in order to be able to follow in our own home.

Yesterday when we visited her, we found V. sitting out in the sunshine, visiting with another friend. We got her to smile and giggle a little. Very gratifying. She hasn't had any seizures or strokes since a couple days after she was sent home to hospice care.

V. has a lot to overcome. It's a little over three weeks since the doctor sent her home. We all know she can get better. There ain't nothin' that our God can't do, in the words of Rebekah Pearl Anast. If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth (see the Bible, Book of Mark, Chapter 9, Verse 23). V. gets discouraged and wants sometimes to eat outside the program, and we encourage her to stick with it.

V., when she has been able, has been a servant to everybody. She wants very much to be a strong mother to her boys and to be a strong wife. I am happy and awestruck to see the effort that Jesus has inspired in these people toward the recovery of this dear woman. We ask for prayer that she remain encouraged and confident to rely on God and to stick to it. Nobody in this gang entertains any thoughts about any bad outcome, but rather we look forward to seeing V. and her family come into a room after a long hike and address a crowd of people curious about how they might know God, get rid of poisons, get nourished, enjoy God's gifts, and serve with those gifts.

Thanks, Dr. Carey, for the help from your camp. We are grateful and hopeful.

God's richest blessings in Christ Jesus,
Helen of the Dallmans

Jim,

Just thought I would drop a line to you saying thanks so much for the information in the complete package I bought. A group from my church watch a DVD each Friday evening. I prepare a raw food dinner and we have lost over 150lbs in our small group.

I no longer have to take over three hundred dollars of medicines a month.

We watched Matt Monarch come speak Paul Nison came once, then I was able to have him come to our church and speak and really encouraged many people.

Now on December 15th we are having a Healthy For the Holidays Fair at my church.

We have free chair massages, teaching on essential oils, teaching on Raw Foods and I will be putting on a Food Prep Class three times during the day and we have classes on water.

Just saying thanks, as I work to finish my Masters degree in Rehabilitation Counseling I wish I could do an internship at the Union City location but I am having trouble getting time.

Paul Nison suggested I come to Palm Beach to work but I wish I could do the energy exchange program.

But like I said it is just a dream at this point may over the summer between classes.

I appreciate this SO much! I have bunion surgery on Friday, so hope to watch these videos while I recouperate.

I enjoy your chi emails, and think the new format is excellent. There's so much information in them!  I've saved them for months because of the links. The listing of articles makes it much easier to access info on a particular subject, so maybe now I can delete some of my mailbox!

I am hoping to go to Michigan for a 2 week stay some day. My husband does not want to go (although he isn't against the chi philosophy) - it is just very hard for me to get away alone. I would find the environment and encouragement so helpful, since I don't particularly like working in the kitchen. I do a few things right, but there's so much room for improvement and helpful ideas!  It's on my wish list!!!

Thanks again for replacing the DVD's.  I'm really impressed with the work you do in appreciation for what CHI has done for you (I listened to your broadcast tonight).

Wishing you a wonderful holiday season!

What Raw Living Foods do for Me - Helen Terry

Dear Jim,

I've needed to write you this for a long time - NOW is the time to say it.

Your wonderful website has helped me transition from SAD to RAW these at least two years.  You have indeed provided the education to empower me to choose this way of, at least, eating to rebuild a body damaged by menu choices of a lifetime.  I have been macrobiotic and vegan for at least thirty years, yet only periodically has dramatic weight loss been achieved again (classic yo-yo dieter), specifically through severely restricted calories and strenuous exercise.  These last four and a half years have seen a sharp increase in my weight, even though being vegan, and it is only since embarking on RAW 100% for, as of this writing, 26 days, and I have 'released' 7 pounds in the last eight days.

What is most dramatic, though is what I will say next.  As of now, two things:

One:  All of my new hair is coming in in its natural color, medium brown.  Many grey hairs are falling out.  That's pretty dramatic.

But, Two is that, and to me, even more shocking, is that my teeth are changing from translucent (which they became, almost like stalagmites) two years ago, now to SOLID in color or makeup.  It's hard to explain, but about the time I actively adopted raw on at least a 50% daily basis, here I'm supposing the alkaline drop in my bones and teeth could be seen in that my teeth started to become translucent.  Today, this week, I noticed that they are, from the root down almost two-thirds, solid in color.  This can only be attributed to an alkaline input of fuel daily.  Victoria Boutenko's Green Smoothie concept I give credit to almost entirely, as those would most days be my only Raw input, later for dinner being vegan cooked.  But the changes were happening on the inside, invisible to me until now.  IT'S ACCUMULATIVE!

No magic bullet, but soft, swift changes internally.  It's all about the bioterrain, which you've been talking about all this time (and Victoria stressed constantly in her book, Green for Life - Thank you, Victoria!).

In closing, thanks for providing for me the home study program, for your witness of befores and afters in this 'lifestyle' and especially your daily dedication to all of us struggling along this narrow path to progress, not perfection (but closely approaching it!!!).  Thank you so much for all you do.

Hey, very nice letter, Helen. Thanks for sharing

Victoria Boutenko tells of Sergei and Valya's fillings falling out, and their carries (cavities) healing. Of course, they were young at the time, but.... what a magnificent self-healing machine our bodies are, aren't they?

Dear Jim,

Thank you so much for my order.  And.... a big big thank you for all the bonuses ;) !!!! I'm so excited I'm just jumping out of my skin.  I'm sort of taking this home class "under cover"  I'll have to wait until my spouse is gone to work to watch the dvd's.  Then he'll just have to see the miraculous changes in me without my preaching and I'm sure he'll come on board.  Again a great big THANK YOU!!!

Thanks for the feedback. I did my talk last night and everyone was thrilled to learn about Raw and the benefits.  They asked me all kinds of questions and were hungry (pun intended) for more info.  I will continue to educate people on this amazing way of life and offer suggestions when I am able.  Soon, I will create a newsletter of somesort to being sending to people.  As my dream begins to manifest I would be happy to include in my newletter(s) info about your services and CHI.  I will keep you posted!

Thanks again,

Hi there Jim

Our order actually arrived by courier last Friday and the letter arrived with the post on the same day... we thought that was remarkable.  So all in all I believe it only took about 10 days to get here.  Thank you so much for the excellent customer service!

We are already into the lessons and DVD's and enjoying it all.  I don't remember if I mentioned it or not but both my husband and I are doing the course together and are eating the same as well.  Would it be possible for him to get a certificate as well please.  His name is Ross J Sims.

We are hoping to make it over for the energy exchange program in July and have already contacted Barry Duncan about it and will be sending in our application forms as soon as we sort out a few details.  It would be great to spend some time at the centre and the only thing worrying us is that we will love it so much that 3 months won't seem long enough and we will want to stay on longer!

Many thanks for all your help

Hey Jim,

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me find an answer for this, and referring my query to some pretty amazing people. I really appreciate all you have done helping to answer our questions. I know that one day I will make a trip over to America and I can thank you in person.

I looking forward to a response from Dr. Flora van Orden. I will look up her details, anyone who worked with Dr. Ann Wigmore is fine by me. I am reading another of Ann’s books at the moment and I really wish I could have met her, she is so inspiring!

Thanks again for the support you are offering, it is easy to feel a little like a lone voice in the wilderness here in New Zealand and my correspondence with you is a great boost to my belief in what I am doing.

Have a brilliant day!

Hi Jim,

I enjoyed the teleclass tonight - it was fun, thanks for doing that!

I am really enjoying the course - It means so much to me that you put all this information together, so I can buy it and have it show up on my doorstep. Thank you so much! I have been wanting to go to a raw food retreat for some time and just couldn't afford taking the time out  - (and what to do with my doggie?!) (my dog likes the kale and papaya green smoothie I make!).

I had been reading books, researching the Internet, trying things on my own, etc. But all this great information in your program, my gosh, I could never have done it on my own.

I also started a web site and blog just for fun and I added links to your site and blog (if that's okay). It's www.rawcitylife.com.

I'm making up recipes and taking photos of everything I make. Its new, so there's not much on it, but when my friends ask about the Raw Food lifestyle I just send them to my links page!

Thanks for all of your hard work, my life is changed forever.

What Dr. Ann Wigmore's Raw Living Foods Lifestyle Did, and Does, For Me

by Dr. James Carey, PhD (applied microcomputer technologies)

For 23 years I lived in Key West, Florida, and built several computer companies. In '97 I sold off the business, apartments, office building, house, and most of the stuff I'd accumulated. By January '99 I was 48 years old, free and financially liquid.

I took a year or so off and toured the United States, traveled 60,000 miles, first with an Airstream trailer, and later with a Bluebird motorcoach.

I also spent the time overcoming my addiction to cigarettes, something I'd been dependent upon since I was 14 years old.

By Spring of 2000 I was rested, collected, and tobacco-free. I'd relocated to rural Georgia, adopted a dog, and started building a house with my own hands. I also weighed 260 lbs. I'd been watching my weight creep up over the years, from my college weight of 165 to around 220 by '99.

I considered myself healthy because at 45 I could still shinny up a 30 ft. sailboat mast and repair the masthead while holding on with my legs. But a year of sitting behind the steering wheel substituting junk food and rich meals for the cigarettes I was trying to give up really put the weight on me. Now I was almost 50 and single-handedly building a house.

I considered myself to be in good shape, I was active and pain-free, but I sure was getting big.

Jim's Before Picture
Jim at 260 lbs.
Jim's After Picture
Jim at 170 lbs.

So... January, 2001. New Year's Resolution - go on a diet. I read about health and nutrition, then put myself on a 1700 calorie-a-day vegetarian diet. I walked at least three miles a day, five times a week.

In four months I lost 20 lbs., bringing my weight down to 240. I kept counting calories in my little notebook, I kept walking 15 miles or more a week, and by Summer - still 240 lbs.!

I could not lose any more weight. Frustrating. If I went off my diet for a weekend in Savannah I'd gain 5 lbs. in two days, then take a week - or more - to get rid of it.

Back to the Internet for more research. I read about people who had been on one diet or another, but after initial improvements their health deteriorated and they were facing new health challenges because of the inadequacies of the dietary regime they'd adopted.

The deeper I dug, the more one program stood out. The Raw Living Foods lifestyle, taught by Dr. Ann Wigmore. It was old knowledge going back thousands of years, and she was the most famous of modern advocates. What impressed me most were:

1) Testimonies by people that have lived the lifestyle for 20, 30 and 40 years, and are thriving on it.

2) What does the founder look like today, or what did they die of? Dr. Ann died of smoke inhalation while fighting a fire, at 84. She was fit and healthy.

3) Other raw fooders have died as a result of sports accidents in their 80's and 90's, not of disease or medications. All maintained an active lifestyle up until their passing over.

4) Dr. Wigmore's Raw Living Foods Lifestyle combines raw living food, internal cleansing, body detoxification and plant-based supplementation. All of the elements of good health rolled into one.

5) There are hands-on training centers where one can go and experience the program for an extended period of time, and not just try to sort it out from books or weekend seminars.

6) Most hands-on centers are reasonably priced - I've paid as much for one night at a nice hotel for what they charge for a week's stay.

7) Dr. Ann Wigmore's program is educational, not "do this blindly because I say so." At the training centers they teach why the body isn't healthy, and what you can do about it. As an engineer and scientist, I appreciate this.

The more I looked at it, the more the Raw Living Foods Lifestyle stood out as being the program that would work for me - or for anyone!

Synchronicity also came into play. An old friend. When I mentioned Dr. Ann Wigmore's Raw Living Foods program she told me that she'd studied with Dr. Ann at Hippocrates Institute in Boston, and credited the lifestyle with changing her life.

August of '01 found me at Creative Health Institute, near Union City, Michigan. On a trip to visit family I stopped in for a three-day visit. I was so impressed with the personal experiences of the graduating students that I went back to Georgia, closed up the farm, and returned to Michigan to attend the two-week program. I still weighed 240 lbs.

In my first two weeks at Creative Health I lost 20 lbs. I never went hungry, I never missed a meal, I never counted a calorie. Indeed, I usually had seconds.

At the end of the first month I was down to 210 lbs. When I headed back for Georgia for Christmas I weighed 200 lbs. I'd lost 40 lbs. without even working at it!

Why did the program work so dramatically for me?

I was toxic. Not only did the organic, unprocessed food that Creative Health served reduce and eliminate the toxins in my body, Dr. Ann's program helped my body eliminate toxins that I'd been accumulating all of my life.

By eating processed foods, I'd been putting toxins into my body faster than my body could remove them. I learned that my body was storing these toxins in fat cells in order to protect me. Once I eliminated the toxins I was ingesting, my body was able to process the backlogged accumulation and dispose of it.

I also learned that I had a large amount of impacted fecal matter. Most people do. Enemas cleared out this backlog.

From '01 to '05 I spent three to six months of the year at Creative Health, helping out as a volunteer as I helped myself get healthier. I weigh 170 lbs. now.

The other reason I kept returning to Creative Health was the good feelings I felt when I saw others overcome their health challenges. I've seen people heal diabetes, obesity, arthritis, colitis, after-effects of chemotherapy, breast cancer, hepatitis, heavy metal poisoning, asthma, wounds that wouldn't heal, PMS, migraine headaches... all forms of health challenges.

I've seen people stop smoking, painlessly, in just a few days. They didn't even notice that they'd quit. Wish I knew that back in '99.

I've watched people perk up, heal, and get happy. Like Chantel from Zimbabwe. She came to Creative Health with rheumatoid arthritis, which she'd had since she was 16. She was 26. Upon graduation from the two-week program Chantel said, "I stopped taking my medication after I was here three days. I've not had any pain in more than a week."

With tears streaming down her cheeks, she added, "This is the best I have felt since I was 15 years old."

Some time later Chantel sent me an email: "While I am only 75% raw after these two years, I am not taking medication, and my pain has not returned. I am happy to tell you that I am now married and three months pregnant. Your program made this possible. Thank you, thank you, thank you."

What do raw living foods do for me?

Helped me lose over 70 lbs.,

Gave me an energy level that's like being 25 again (I even took up skydiving - at 52!).

Instead of sleeping 8-10 hours a night, I wake totally refreshed after only 4-6 hours of sleep.

My bowels are regular and move easily.

I'm happier - all the time. I have a more positive outlook on life. People say I "glow," and I smile all the time.

My taste buds have changed, and my cravings for snacks, sweets and caffeine have disappeared.

Most of all, I find my life more satisfying and rewarding than it's ever been before.

I try to help Creative Health in their mission. I've installed computers and a network, rewrote the website, taught classes, mowed the lawn, started a newsletter, served as Program Director, done public speaking, fixed toilets, painted, produced videos, answered the phones, stuffed envelopes, and told my story on TV and radio

When I was answering the phone at Creative Health I repeatedly heard people say, either:

1) I have the time to attend, but just can't afford it, or
2) Affording it is no problem, but there's no way I can take two weeks off.

For those reasons I created the Home Study Program. From a file cabinet with over three decades of research studies and student materials, and two decades worth of videotape, I spent my winters assembling the most comprehensive overview of the program I could.

I now administer the Raw Living Foods Home Study Program in order to help those who:

1) Can't afford to attend a center,
2) Want to have a comprehensive overview of the program to take home with them, or
3) Need training materials to help them share their wonderful transformation with others.

I'm finding it a great way to spend my retirement, and the second half of my life!

Hi Jim, I am very grateful for you efforts, Kathy has high hopes for this book and is over the moon at the help you have provided. It’s hard to get the computer off her these days as she is constantly checking the emails to see if anyone has sent a story through or emailing her request for stories out.

I have finished reading Ann Wigmore’s book and the road she traveled was very hard. The more I learn about her the more I am in awe, the effect just one person has had on today’s society is inspirational.

I’d love to know what started it all for you, how did you first come across all this and what motivated you to make the change?

Dear Jim Carey,

I just wanted to dash off a quick note to let you know how wonderful I think your efforts are. I spent a month at the Boston Hippocrates Health Institute back in 1977.

I think the tone and spirit of what you are about are much truer to who Dr. Ann was than the efforts of others who happened to come into possession of other fruits of her work.

Keep up the excellent work. I look forward to each newsletter.

And, you're right on, the greens are in the limelight just like Ann Wigmore professed!! It just makes sense!! Chlorophyll... of course!!

Thank you for putting up the 7 Most Common Mistakes of Raw Foodists on your newsletter!! That sold me and the information is invaluable. Now, I don't have to make the same mistakes over and over again, get cravings or continually want 'more.'

Thanks, Jim... and by the way, I saw you too... You did a really good introducing the director. And, I enjoyed hearing a brief version of your story.

Oh, and the cut outs made me curious. I suspect Victoria was 'bashing' some product and didn't want it on the tape... that was rather humorous. I'll ask her when I see her at RAWSTOCK in August. :-) "

Hi Jim,

I wrote you an email stating that I was missing some dvds. I have figured out that different numbers go with lessons 1-15 - in other words, yes, I have all the dvds.

Sorry about that, but I am already into my 5th hour of dvds and polished off the 2 books Why Suffer and the one by Don. I feel like I am in the classroom too.

I skipped ahead and watched the Victoria 3 hour talk and LOVED it. She is great. I am hoping you can send me her book and video as part of the "January" special.

I am so looking forward to bringing my family down to CHI, hopefully this year!

Thanks for all the work you put into completing this home study course. No regrets, I am thrilled to have it!!

Heide
