(NewsTarget) Two stories announced across the various news media this week may signal the fact that the "end of the world" - at least as we know it - has come leaps and bounds closer. The first item begs the question: What have the Nendo Tube Nosed Fruit Bat, the Pink Headed Duck, the Hula Painted Frog, the Guam Flying Fox, and the Yangzte River Dolphin all got in common? Naturally you knew, they are some of almost eighty known species to have become extinct in the last 100 years.
The sad losses are a result, some say, of what might be viewed merely as a typical evolutionary process. What is this natural occurrence? Mass extinction. Something that occurs, scientists say, whenever the global temperature increases for a prolonged period of time; that is to say 'global warming'. Such an event could lead to around half of all known species ceasing to exist over the next few hundred years!

Steven Gibb shares this link with us: http://renegadehealth.com/blog/how_to_read_food_labels_safely/.
From the article: "Here’s a perfect example of how not to 'judge a package' by its cover and how you can read food labels safely and with confidence. It’s also an opportunity for you to do something to help others who don’t know as much as you do about food additives and safety!"

Hi Jim,
Wonderful newsletter and information. I hope to visit you next summer.
I am Diabetic and have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia recently. I am scheduled to go to a local Pain Clinic tomorrow for injections.
I have been eating well and exercising, but am still in a lot of physical pain. Is there anything you know of that will work more directly on my pain? I will keep researching, but just thought I would ask.
Thanks,
Doug

I'm passing your query on to Dr. Flora, who's more qualified to respond to it.
I can tell you this - diabetes and fibromyalgia respond wonderfully to raw living foods.

Fibromyalgia is considered by Dr. Hulda Clark in her book "The Cure for All Diseases". Please read it.
Here is a small part of the teleconference tonight.
Dr. T. Colin Campbell: 7/18/07: Professor Emeritus of Nutritional Biochemistry at Cornell University, who has published The China Study concerning the Chinese lack of cancers because they don't use dairy in many places. "I started out wanting to learn more about how to get higher levels of protein from animals. Then, I saw children under the age of 4 coming up with liver cancer and wanted to know why. In India, rats being experimented on for the same kind of cancers, came up with that cancer with increased intake of animal protein. Then I went to VA tech for 27 years to find the answer to the question “Was it really true that extra protein intake would turn on this type of cancer?” The animals were exposed to chemical carcinogens. Could it have been that? When fed an amount of protein in excess than what is needed for good nutrition, cancer followed. Nutrition had a dramatic effect on cancer. When higher levels of protein were fed, cancers were turned on.
Principles - The major discovery was that we could turn on cancer by feeding milk protein. The effect of cow's milk protein on initiating cancer was greater than any other kind of protein's effect, even though there were multiple mechanisms that turned it on. It was a question of plant-based protein turning cancer off. Animal protein turning cancer on.
We were involved in a large nationwide survey in the People's Republic of China. For about a dozen different kinds of cancers, the people were consuming too much protein. Lower protein intake, less cancer. We explored all manner of diseases. We explored dietary introduction of relatively small amounts of animal protein and found that it would increase heart disease, cancer and other diseases. Plant based diets - vegetables, fruits, whole grain foods - really reversed heart disease. I can't overemphasize how important a plant based diet is. For our health, use whole vegetables. Don't add salt, sugar, and fat. The closer we get to a plant based diet, the healthier we get. Health care calls are rising, mental health costs are rising. We need to promote the use of a plant based diet.
The Chinese caloric intake is high, but many generally don't eat any animal protein.
There was a question about the chemistry of animal protein. Its sulfate makes the ph of the body too acid. John MacDougall knows about this more than I. We don't need fish. Comment of listener: Dr. Mercola indicated that “EPA/DHA conversion is only made with fish oil, not with plants.” Fish have no antioxidants. No fiber. It's better to use flax seed, walnuts.
What about controlling gene expression? “I am not in support of individual nutrient supplements. I think they are a bit of a hoax”. TCC1@cornell.edu

A must-see documentary about the cozy financial relationships that exist between lawmakers, lobbyists, medical schools and the FDA.
This film documents the problems with a health care system that supports the many and frequent scams evil marketing geniuses employed by drug companies foist on an unknowing public every day: http://www.mercola.com/2007/mar/8/prescription-for-disaster. (92 min)
You are part of the most conditioned, programmed culture the world has ever known. Not only are your thoughts and attitudes continually being shaped and molded, but your very awareness of the whole design seems like it is being subtly and inexorably erased.
The doors of your perception are carefully and precisely regulated. Who cares, right?
It is an exhausting and endless task to keep explaining to people how most issues of conventional wisdom are scientifically implanted in the public consciousness by a thousand media clips per day.
This four-part documentary does an excellent job of explaining how Freud's theories have been used by politicians and companies far and wide. Over the past century they have mastered the ability to engineer your consent and grow mass consumerism throughout the free world.
And, you certainly can't trust the mass media to learn the truth, as they do nothing more than confuse you with misinformation, all in the pursuit of the corporate bottom line.
We have just seen too many examples where people are sacrificed for money. This isn't right and one of the primary purposes of this site is to help expose their fraud and awaken the consciousness of our culture.

Beekeepers in 24 states are reporting record losses of honeybees. The exact
cause of this problem has not yet been determined, but bee colonies across the
U.S. are disappearing, with some states reporting a 70% drop in bee populations.
"I have never seen anything like it," said California beekeeper David Bradshaw. "Box after box after box are just empty. There's nobody home."
A Cornell University study has estimated that honeybees annually pollinate more than $14 billion worth of seeds and crops in the United States, mostly fruits, vegetables and nuts.
"Every third bite we consume in our diet is dependent on a honeybee to pollinate that food," said Zac Browning, vice president of the American Beekeeping Federation. The Organic Consumers Association is closely monitoring the situation with efforts to determine if the problem of disappearing bees is related to genetically engineered pollen or pesticide toxicity.

Acts of kindness such as serving meals at a homeless shelter, running to the pharmacy for a sick friend, or lending emotional support to a significant other may help people live longer, a recent study concluded. Do something kind and compassionate for someone else each day and you'll reap health benefits as well.

Today is a bleak day for the environment, the day of the year when mankind over-exploits the world's resources - the day when we start living beyond our ecological means.
Scientific evidence is mounting that rapid population growth and rising living standards among the Earth's six billion inhabitants are putting an intolerable strain on nature.
For the first time a green group, the London-based New Economics Foundation (NEF), has sought to pinpoint how quickly people are expending global raw materials - fertile land, forests, fish, air and energy.
By analysing data from the US academic group Global Footprint Network, the London think-tank has worked out the day each year when "humanity starts eating the planet".
Just like a company bound for bankruptcy plunging into the red or a borrower "maxing out" on credit cards, the world starts falling into ecological debt on 9 October. Problems, affecting everything from the seabed to the stratosphere, range from carbon dioxide emissions to the destruction of rainforests to the intensification of agriculture: read the rest of the story from RedOrbit.

Combine together in a bowl:
1 cup mugwort (or lemon balm - aka Melissa) [Hey! I remember this from a Harry Potter movie!]
1/2 cup rose petals
1/2 cup german chamomile
1/2 cup of sweet hops
1/3 cup lavender buds
1/3 cup catnip crushed
1/4 cup peppermint
Mix the ingredients together. Make cloth bags from a 5x12 inch piece of material and fill the bags with your mixture. Sew the top of the bag shut.
Or make up your own combination! These make great gifts.

University of Illinois researchers have discovered tantalizing evidence for a new view of ADHD. In a 2004 study published in the American Journal of Public Health, the laboratory found that children as young as five showed a significant reduction in ADHD symptoms when they engaged with nature.
They have found that engagement with nature buffers against life stresses (Orion Magazine, July/August 2005) - http://www.orionsociety.org/pages/om/05-4om/Louv.html.

When Henry Ford told a New York Times reporter that ethyl alcohol was "the fuel of the future" in 1925, he was expressing an opinion that was widely shared in the automotive industry.
"The fuel of the future is going to come from fruit like that sumach out by the road, or from apples, weeds, sawdust -- almost anything," he said.
"There is fuel in every bit of vegetable matter that can be fermented. There's enough alcohol in one year's yield of an acre of potatoes to drive the machinery necessary to cultivate the fields for a hundred years." http://www.organicconsumers.org/2006/article_666.cfm
(USA Today) With oil prices rising, interest in ethanol, a plant-based
gasoline additive, has skyrocketed. But the rising demand for ethanol
has a downside: it takes about 300 million gallons of water to make 100
million gallons of ethanol each year, says the Renewable Fuels
Association: http://www.usatoday.com/tech/science/2006-06-19-ethanol-water_x.htm.

Our energies are magnetic in nature. Emotion is energy in motion. We can attract energy to us -- including the energy of people we do not even know -- when we are not safeguarded from it.
Children process a lot of negative energy for their parents. If you are feeling stressed, your child is intuitively aware of that and can play a role of trying to "please" or "act-out" in response to the negative energy you are running: http://www.mercola.com/2006/jun/29/how_to_protect_yourself_and_your_children_from_the_negative_energy_of_others.htm.
While this is off-topic for this weblog, this song touched me so much I feel compelled to share it, and the letter that came with it:
March of 2005 was the first time this song was performed by Diamond Rio at a concert in Las Vegas. They received an immediate resounding standing ovation, and continue to do so every time they perform it! At the time, my thought was, "Everyone who loves America will be so thrilled to hear this song!" Turn your speakers on and Click on the Attachment....Although Diamond Rio has never before done a statement song, they felt compelled to record "In God We Still Trust."
But guess what? Sadly, major radio stations wouldn't play it because it was considered politically incorrect. Consequently, the song was never released to the public.
So, America, see what you think. If this offering speaks to your heart and you feel to share it with friends and loved ones, please do. Many of us feel great concern with the movement of a dissident minority to eliminate God from the face of America! If they succeed, it will destroy the very principles upon which our nation was founded. Are we going to allow this to happen? What would that be like?
More importantly..how would you feel?
Regardless of our ethnic origin, let us cease being the silent majority and join together. Not as a particular political party, but as Americans! Let us voice to the media and the powers that be how we feel about having God erased from everything that is sacred to us. If we don't do it, who will??

(Reuters) - Americans are more socially isolated than they were 20 years ago, separated by work, commuting and the single life, researchers reported on Friday.
Nearly a quarter of people surveyed said they had "zero" close friends with whom to discuss personal matters. More than 50 percent named two or fewer confidants, most often immediate family members, the researchers said.
"This is a big social change, and it indicates something that's not good for our society," said Duke University Professor Lynn Smith-Lovin, lead author on the study to be published in the American Sociological Review: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060623/hl_nm/life_friends_dc_2.
