Wheatgrass and Mold, part 3

The solution is very simple. The first appearance is in grass about an inch tall. A fine web that if not treated grows up and more concentrated.

The correction is putting the tray on the floor and spraying with high pressure; letting the water flow out to where is doesn't leak out on the racks.

What is really being done is nature's correction when hard rain flushes the mold into the ground. I have never had it reoccur after one treatment.

Follow-up on wheatgrass mold article

Last week we ran two articles about wheatgrass and mold in the newsletter. Those articles raised the following question from several readers:

--------------

LET ME get this straight: CHI is saying it's OK to drink frozen wheatgrass juice??! xo
- KG

--------------

Nonononononononono. Fresh juiced only, within 15 minutes of being juiced. We shared the articles because of the mold issue, that's all.

Wheatgrass and Mold, part 2

Response from Frank Drelich

I have been trying to get the frozen wheatgrass people to acknowledge the fact that the myceal mold from sprouted wheatgrass berries is not harmful. MMI Pathology Laboratories in Georgia, U.S.A., rans tests several years ago on the topical mold ocurring in the trays of wheatgrass that is grown certified and state inspected. (See attached report). Here in Florida this is our 6th year producing. Our product is not at all pathengenic (harmful) to humans. You are what you eat and freeze dried or frozen wheatgrass juice will never replace the power of fresh and since we drink the sprouted grass and not the berry. We grow a premium product. If you have candy bars, barbituates, antibiotics, boooze, cancer, you will purge from fresh wheatgrass every time. With frozen, you will not de-tox that way because we grow a fresh crop every week not every 200 days and freeze it.

SYMPTOMS: Mycelial growth on media surface

I. FUNGUS TEST RESULTS (1): Probable slime mold (surface mycelial growth)
Rhizopus sp. (surface mycelial growth)
Pythium sp. (slight infection, scattered seedlings)

DIAGNOSIS: A probable slime mold was identified on the media surface of the wheat grass flat. The profuse growth over the entire flat and numerous sporangiophores can be characteristic of slime molds. Slime molds may grow at a very fast rate and cover entire surfaces, but slime molds are not pathogenic. Slime molds use the plants for support but do not penetrate the tissue. The profuse growth observed on the flat was easily removed from the seeds, lower stems, and roots of the plants. No penetration of plant tissue was observed. Slime molds are favored by wet environments and feed on dead organic matter. Rhizopus sp. also was identified in the surface growth. Rhizopus is a ubiquitous fungus that grows profusely in high humidity environments. Rhizopus generally is only a problem in storage rot situations, and the fungus has not been reported to be pathogenic on wheat seedlings.

Pythium sp. was observed in the root tissue of selected seedlings. The Pythium infection appeared slight and was confined to discrete root sections of smaller seedlings. No pathogenic fungi were identified on the majority of the seedlings.

Wheatgrass and Mold

By Carroll J. MacIntosh

You might find this interesting. My father is a retired minister and he started growing wheatgrass juice in Canada over 14 years ago. It started out just for ourselves but then we grew to serve many health food stores and restaurants. We also sold the juicers.

There are a couple things that always bothered us about the juice and that is the reactions many people (including us) had after drinking the juice, such as nausea and headaches within seconds after drinking. We were always told that this was "detoxification". Then we had a lady break out in hives all over her body within minutes after drinking.

We were also told that this was just a strong detoxing symptom. Howvever we just couldn't buy the story anymore. Nausea and headaches and especially hives are a reaction to something, not detoxification. There is no other herb or juice concoction that makes you detox within seconds with these strong reactions. What we did trace it to is the mold that grows on the trays. Mold is highly toxic and can cause instant reactions such as headaches and nausea and even hives. The mold comes from the seeds that don't germinate, and that is why some trays are better than others. We tried using hydrogen peroxide and colidial silver and even picking out the ungerminated seeds with tweezers. We also noticed that those with candida got much worse after drinking wheatgrass juice. (Sugar and mold will set it off.)

So after being indoor growers of wheatgrass juice for over seven years, we decided that we couldn't serve any more knowing that all the so called detoxing symptoms were reactions to the mold. We shut the whole thing down.

The following spring my dad was visiting a farmer friend and his winter wheat was coming up. For the fun of it, he cut down a bunch and juiced it. He couldn't believe the difference in the taste!!! Smooth and mild tasting and no sugary/bitter taste. He kept drinking it until he had finished a whole glass. And guess what? NO REACTIONS. We have done a bunch of testing and found that:

In the process of growing winter wheat, the frost kills the mold on the ungerminated seeds, thus no mold.

Also the chlorophyll is much higher because it is in the sun.

The simple sugars in the indoor sprouts cannot mature enough to change into complex carbohydrates, and that is why it is sweet like syrup. Outdoor grass matures just before the jointing stage and creates a smooth grass taste.

It is in the ground for over 200 days compared with 7 - 10 days indoors.

At great expense we now have an organic farm in Ontario, where we plant winter wheat and harvest it in the spring. We have about three weeks per year to do this. We chill it in 1 1/2 minutes to just above freezing and then it is packaged and frozen. Lab reports show little change in the nutrients even after up to three years in the freezer. Freezing doesn't harm it, it is heat that does.

Our work now is trying to convince those who have sworn off wheatgrass juice, because of past reactions, to try it again. A good example of this is Ernest who owns Rainbow Bridge store in Ojai, CA. (805) 646-4017. His reaction to indoor grown wheatgrass was with his throat swelling up to the point where it was hard to breathe. At the Expo West show in Anaheim, I met him and explained why he reacted to it. I convinced him to try our wheatgrass and with a shaking hand he did. He couldn't believe this was wheatgrass juice. It tasted so different. He was waiting for a reaction, that never happened. He is now so sold on our wheatgrass juice, that he confidently sells it to his clients.

My dad met Ann Wigmore once after he shut down the indoor growing system and he asked her about growing outside. Her answer was "I never thought of it before". I am sure you are familiar with Steve Meyerwitz. He totally believes in what we are doing and in the revision of his book put a page in about us. Pine Wheatgrass also is supportive. They understand the importance of winter wheat.

A radical approach to health

A RADICAL APPROACH TO HEALTH
Take responsibility for your own body

by KK Fowlkes of http://wheatgrasskits.com/

We have the greatest healthcare system in the world, or so we have been led to believe.  It is certainly the costliest.  In 1995 I had just begun a wheatgrass business and had a  greenhouse where people came in and out and sometimes shared with me their experiences with health.  A neighbor to the greenhouse once came in and shared with me his wife's experience.

In July of 1993, medical doctors upon finding a huge tumor in her colon the size of a small grapefruit removed it and put her into intensive care, where she remained until January of 1994.  At that time she died.  He related that the total cost of that illness approached the amount of four hundred thousand dollars!  That was horrific!  The really sad and horrific thing was though that she died anyway.  I am sure that he was thankful to have had health insurance.

Is health insurance necessary?  If a person wishes to lead a hedonistic life and chooses to smoke, drink alcohol, take drugs of all kinds, including over the counter and prescription drugs,  eat anyplace, anytime, anything he so desires, then yes, health insurance is necessary.  In this day, even if a person is careful, and eats the typical American Diet and avoids certain processed food, then yes, health insurance is necessary.

Certainly, it is necessary to have some type of accident insurance to protect vulnerable members of ones family.  Certainly it might be necessary to have some type of insurance if one is in the child bearing years.

The year 2006 saw a 7.7 percent increase in the price of health insurance which was a smaller increase than had been seen in a few years.  Dr. Drew Altman, president and chief executive of the Kaiser Family Foundation, which tracks the annual cost of health insurance said, "To working people and business owners, a reduction in an already very high rate of increase just means you're still paying more."  Since the year 2000, health insurance premiums have gone up 78 percent, versus wages which have gone up 20 percent.

More than 155 million Americans get their health insurance through their jobs.  Employers usually pick up 84 percent of the cost for individuals and 73 percent for families.  Sixty one percent of businesses offer health insurance.  (Kevin Frecking, Associated Press, Yahoo News Sept 26, 2006)

So, what is the overall cost of health insurance?  For individuals the cost averages $4,242. per year.  For families the average cost is $11,800. per year.

This might sound reasonable to my neighbor who would have had to fork up nearly $400,000. dollars for his wife's illness.

However the massive reality here is that she died anyway!  $400,000 dollars expended for her illness and she died anyway!  Truly tell me, what is the use of having it?  One is protecting himself from ever having a major illness cause bankruptcy, but the important thing here, human life, the life of a cherished loved one, is not protected.

Is this reasonable?  Many young families in our society don't even gross $11,800 per year.

Should all the rest of the people in the US be required to pay more taxes so that unknowing or careless people can have some type of insurance?  Do we want to foot the bill for people who say what the heck, I am going to die anyway.  I might as well enjoy myself in the meantime.  Eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we die.

Let us also examine the state of a stay in the hospital these days.  We have just seen how expensive it can be.  Is it safe?  A man named "Lance Peterson who is a disease investigator, reports that he was stunned when he found out that a lethal bacterium was three times more common in his Illinois hospital system than the rate found anywhere in the US."  (Bloomberg.com, Sept. 27, 2006).

Hospital infections kill 92,000 per year.  This statistic comes from the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia.

It is conclusive that we live in a dangerous society.  Should we endanger ourselves even more by entering a hospital?

The radical approach that we suggest is to take responsibility for ones self in only one area of life.  That way is by controlling the main ingredient that affects the health of the body-what we put in it 3 times per day.

In the 1950's Ann Wigmore pioneered a radical approach to carefully care for the human body.  Her approach was two-fold in that it actually took people who were already extremely ill and guided them into a diet that would heal their illness.  Secondly her diet was instructive for those who wish never to become ill.  Her basic diet consisted of living food and wheatgrass juice. http://www.wheatgrasskits.com/issue14.htm

Ann Wigmore's diet was based upon the age old philosophy of Hippocrates, father of medicine, who said,  "Let your food be your medicine."

Phytonutrients and Wheatgrass

What are Phytonutrients:

Phytonutrients are the active components found in the skins of fruits, vegetables, grains, and seeds that are responsible for pigment, taste and smell. Unlike the traditional nutrients found in protein, fats, vitamins, and minerals, phytonutrients are not "essential" for life; however, they have been shown to be powerful antioxidants that work to promote overall health.

There are over 25,000 different phytonutrients that have been identified in fruits and vegetables. Those foods rich in phytonutrients include tomatoes, green tea, carrots, broccoli, wheatgrass and chlorella. To function at optimal health, the human body needs a wide variety of phytonutrients from a variety of sources. The best way to reap the benefits of phytonutrients is to eat natural, whole foods.

What is Wheatgrass:

The wheatgrass that is certified organic produces high concentrations of chlorophyll, enzymes and vitamins. The wheatgrass seed begins its journey absorbing natural nutrients from a soil prepared using organic methods containing NO genetically engineered products, in preparation to become a tall, fruitful plant. At this stage, the plant has the nutrient profile similar to that of other leafy green vegetables and will continue to grow until these nutrients reach their peak levels, at about three inches in length. Organic wheatgrass contains vitamins A, B complex, C and E, trace elements calcium, iron, magnesium and potassium, enzymes and amino acids. As an antioxidant, organic wheat grass can boost the immune system and scavenge free radicals. Organic wheatgrass has been shown to be a powerful body detoxifier. Its high chlorophyll content cleanses the liver, tissues and cells and purifies the blood. Organic wheatgrass also contains folic acid, iron, and vitamin B-12 which are required for proper red blood cell production.

What is Chlorophyll:

Chlorophyll is the green pigment molecule in plants and is responsible for absorbing the sun's energy for photosynthesis.. Interestingly, the chlorophyll molecule in plants is chemically similar to hemoglobin in human blood. The only difference in the two molecules is that the central atom in chlorophyll is magnesium, whereas in humans it is iron. As a food supplement, chlorophyll can detoxify and purify the blood and liver, help build red blood cells and aid in tissue repair.

What are the other ingredients:

Vitamin A (as Natural Beta Carotene) for improved eye health and to guard against infection;
Vitamin B-2 (Riboflavin) to aid in the release of energy from foods and promote normal growth and development;
Vitamin C to guard against cardiovascular disease, boost immunity, aid in wound healing, help form collagen in connective tissues;
Vitamin D to maintain blood levels of calcium and promote its absorption;
Vitamin K for proper bone and blood function;
Calcium for strong bones and teeth, efficient blood clotting, nerve cell transmission and health muscle contractions;
Potassium for proper electrolyte and fluid balance;
Iron for stimulation of the bone marrow production of hemoglobin (red-blood cell that carries oxygen to other cells)

What is detoxification:

After a period of time, the body builds up toxins and natural waste products from chemicals, pollution and overindulging. A process of cleansing the internal system, or detoxifying, helps rid the body of harmful chemicals that may be contributing to fatigue, illness, pain, and poor digestion. Cleansing can be achieved through various modalities, including fasting, diet, saunas, and a range of whole foods vitamins, herbs, and nutrients.

What does Wheatgrass do for me:

Organic wheat grass detoxifies and oxygenates the blood thereby increasing circulation, energy levels, immune system function and an overall sense of well being from good nourishment. Wheat grass and chlorophyll are phytonutrients rich in amino acids, protein, fiber, vitamins, minerals, enzymes that work together to strengthen immunity.

Why do I need Wheatgrass:

Organic wheatgrass, rich in chlorophyll, enzymes, vitamins and nutrients has been linked to improved health. Some of the benefits of wheatgrass include:
Increase of hemoglobin production;
Rebuilding of the blood stream;
Purifying the blood;
Improving the body's ability to heal wounds;
Neutralizing toxins and carcinogens in the body;
Helping to purify the liver;
Improving digestion;
Removing heavy metals from the body.

Juicing up on the "miracle" elixir

(Tel Aviv, Israel) The fashionable status of wheatgrass juice illustrates well the inherent problem of treating a particular element as a magic wand, detached from the worldview that spawned it. According to the Ann Wigmore method, for instance (www.annwigmore.org), wheatgrass juice is part of a healing regimen that consists of four major processes. Two of them - cleansing and rejuvenating the body - are done by means of this juice and a special nutritional menu.

http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/762894.html

Wheatgrass and oxygen

Wheatpicb Liquid oxygen is a metaphor.  It's like some people writing that wheatgrass juice is liquid gold!  Anything that is juiced or blended will have oxygen remaining in it if it is used within a certain amount of time, and it is not "free," it is bound up with the juice so there is no danger to the body.  After awhile, the oxygen disappears and the food "dies."

That is my understanding and if anyone can explain differently, then I want to learn.  We are all products of our education.

I also learned that cancer cells cannot grow in petri dishes when fresh wheatgrass juice (which contains oxygen) was added, but would grow in a medium of cooked foods.

Wheatgrass juice, nausea and nose-dripping

Jim and Flora, simple question of what is causing my nausea and nose-dripping after consuming about 6 ounces of wheatgrass juice?  Mold?  Didn’t even see any?  How long will this stay?  Can I drink water, or anything, or nothing at all to get this to stop?  Is anything else contributing? Flora, you may not be able to read this because of the hurricane, but hope you’re protected.  Any info/help, please, Helen.

-------------------------------
Many people experience nausea when they bolt the wheatgrass juice down, instead of ensalivating every sip and chewing it as if it were solid grass for 2 minutes before swallowing it.  Also, if there is something in your stomach that shouldn't be there, it will want to bring it up, just like cats and dogs that go outside and chew grass and then throw up.

Many people also drip afterward, because the wheatgrass juice is wonderfully going up in their sinuses and dissolving mucus that shouldn't be there.

It's wonderful what the wheatgrass juice is doing.  Dr. Ann used to comment often, "If you're not throwing up, it's not working!"

- Flora
-------------------------------

Many thanks.  It worked for about 3 hours, then my system settled down.  I’m so embarrased; here’s a fine example of me truly “eating” too fast.  I did drink it like it was carrot juice, and was so disheartened that I felt this way, making me a newbie in my symptoms.  It’s been impossible for me to grow it in my apartment.

Thanks so much, Flora, for sending this back me.  “If something’s good, then a lot more of it must be wonderful” didn’t work here, at all.

Very best,
Helen

Choking down the wheatgrass juice

A note of thanks for making this publication [Dr. Ann's book, Why Suffer?] available on-line.  Had it not been, I don't know that I would have had the opportunity to read it.  I could not put it down and read it over the weekend.  Truly a courageous woman.

I have known about wheatgrass for a long time but never tried it or felt the need.  Then life changed. I was diagnosed with MCS, an environmental disease that makes living in our world of chemicals next to impossible.  Always a "health nut" I was baffled as to why I would become so depleted when I ate all the "right" things.  Anyway, I am sprouting now and eating even healthier than before.  The jury's out yet but I will be experimenting with "the grass."

I just have one problem, when juiced, the smell is nauseating to me causing me to vomit.  Shall I plug my nose???? Has anyone else ever had this problem?  How does frozen juice fare?

Thanks,

Linda Aulenti

--------------------
You’re not alone. I've heard that it’s a sign of low stomach acid. At any rate, the important thing is to get it down. Hold your nose, eat a slice of lemon or orange afterwards, or dilute it with water. Or, do the WG as an implant.

Fresh frozen can be as much as 95% as potent as fresh; it depends on the process used, and how long it was between juicing and freezing. Ideally, you want to juice it and drink it within 20 minutes of harvesting. Lab tests have shown that by the 5th day after juicing there’s virtually no vitamins or minerals left in it.

I hope this helps,

Jim Carey

Feedback - Ian Clark

Hi Jim,

I read your brief bio in the wheatgrasskits.com email today. What a great testimony and I really appreciate where are you are coming from and what you are now doing to help others. I just recently found out about the benefits of wheatgrass and have started growing the grass and sunflower sprouts at home (planting and harvesting 8 trays a day now).

We have seven children of which all are on the Wheatgrass juice and Sunflower sprouts throughout the day plus eating 99% raw living foods. The children are still moving through the final transition to completely raw food. I am drinking about 10 ounces a day of the wheatgrass juice and about 12 ounces of the sunflower sprout juice and am starting to see remarkable changes. Fortunately, I was told about using ocean solution to feed the plants and that made a huge difference with the 90 plus minerals in the grass. The Sunflower sprouts apparently absorb a bit less minerals but are still very powerful. Are you using any ocean solution for your grass also?

I have lost about 85 pounds so far and feel like I am 21 again. I expect to go through a lot more detox and cleansing in general over the next year or two. The person that showed me this beautiful way of giving the body nutrition has been doing this for the last 2 years and is an amazing example of excellent health.

Looking forward to your reply,

Kind Regards,

Superfoods - all you need to eat?

(The Independent - UK) Ask the natural health groupies and, these days, you'll find they've given the vitamin jar the boot. "Superfoods" are the big nutrition thing. We're not talking about your humble broccoli or nuts. Instead, it's foods such as spirulina, wheatgrass or sprouts that are so packed with nutrients, a mere handful should give you the daily dose of vitamins and minerals you need: http://news.independent.co.uk/uk/health_medical/article1170365.ece.

Complete nutrition

Wheat3 Complete Nutrition
by Kaitlin Moller
- Including excerpts from Wheatgrass Miracles by Dr. Ann Wigmore and from Unlimited Power by Anthony Robbins

Energized, motivated, and blissful are three great words!   These words might describe someone's mood on a perfect day.  This perfect day could be the outcome of certain factors:   The primary factor is physical health.   People sometimes refuse to  admit that the body often controls motivation.   Will power is just not enough.  We wish  so much to do good things, to accomplish goals and to work hard, but we are tired.  How do we fix our health? In studying successful healthy lives like Ann Wigmore or Anthony Robbins-- one thing is clear what one eats  directly effects how one feels.   Living, fresh, water-rich food energizes, enables motivation and makes life blissful!

Living, green super foods give us that edge we need; they give us energy; they heal and repair our physical bodies.   Ann Wigmore said In technological societies, where so many people live in cities and are far removed from the countryside, people tend not to eat enough leafy green vegetables forgetting the vital importance of the color green in a well balanced diet.  Green foods are the principle source of vitamins and nutrients which are essential in protecting, healing and repairing the human body.  The brighter the color, the richer the vegetable is in that magic ingredient chlorophyll.

Junk food and candy, on the other hand, take the vim and vigor out of us!  In his book, Unlimited Power Anthony Robbins stated We see more and more evidence every day that the American diet of junk food, fast food, and additives and chemicals is causing trapped wastes in the body, and those wastes alter the level of oxygenation and electric energy of the body, contributing to everything from cancer to crime.  Robbins poses the question, What if you started eating healthy, cleansing, water-content foods and stopped eating the meat and dairy products that were stressing and clogging up your system?  We all instinctively know that he is right!  When we eat better, we feel better!

The best source around  to get the rich living minerals that a person needs is in wheatgrass and barley grass juice. The proof is in the way  one feels.!   One hears people say that workouts,  hours at the office,   sleep, and mood all are better on the days they make sure to get their shot of  grass juice.  However,  one daily shot of juice is not the complete magic bullet one needs to  eat good food too!  Ann Wigmore noted Because wheatgrass is such a powerful healer, people think that they can eat as they please and try to make it up by drinking wheatgrass juice. It is so unfortunate that people are not aware that what they put into their bodies on a daily basis is what constitutes health.  Eating unhealthy foods and trying to make up for it by drinking wheatgrass juice does not in any way solve health problems. I hope that you will learn that Living Foods are the most important in getting back to health.

Wheat grass and barley grass have been touted as superfoods by many people including just recently by Dr. Perricone on Oprah.com.  Many of us would rather just buy a dried supplement such as spirulina, blue green algae or chlorella rather than growing our own living super foods.   It is easier right?  Ann Wigmore advised against this, she said .. you should consider the fact that these foods have been highly processed. They are single-cell organisms surrounded by a shell that must be crushed open, allowing the content to oxidize. To limit further oxidization, the algae are packaged in light proof containers, but the damage has already been done. In addition the algae are heat dried at temperatures in excess of 160 Fahrenheit, which further undermines their digestibility and nutritional value.  These foods are basically dead by the time they hit the shelf.  She further states You can easily grow,  harvest and drink the juice almost seconds after harvesting it, thereby reaping the full benefits of its many precious qualities, with absolutely no loss of any of its properties due to processing.

Gradually moving oneself  toward a living, raw food diet is the key to having more body energy which will truly make for many perfect days!

Wheatgrass - a superfood?

                (Pocono Record) Bill Yaroschak of McMichaels swears by wheatgrass juice. Organic food enthusiasts consider wheatgrass a superfood, dense in nutrients that cleanse and energize the body.

Yaroschak downed his first wheatgrass shot about seven years ago and felt instantaneous energy: http://www.poconorecord.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060706/NEWS01/607060308.

How long to wait between cutting and consuming wheatgrass?

One key question about wheatgrass is how long to wait after cutting it before you consume it? Most people, taking their cue from Ann Wigmore, say to take it immediately after cutting and juicing.

However, the hormone abscisic acid (ABA) is 40 times more potent 4 hours after cutting the wheatgrass than it is at the time of cutting.

So the question boils down to this: How important is ABA to treating cancer compared to the other anticancer substances in wheatgrass? http://www.cancertutor.com/Cancer/Wheatgrass.html

Mixing wheatgrass juice

Hi Jim

I'm harvesting a tray of wheatgrass every two days 10" by 13" and my question is about drinking it.

I've kinda got tired of drinking it straight and I drink about 1/2 gal of carrot juice a day mixed with barly grass powder and I love that taste but really don't want to mix it with carrot juice. What about mixing it with apple juice ?  It taste pretty ok but I have to drink 12 to 15 oz. of apple juice with 3 to 5 oz of wheatgrass to make it taste better.  All the books I have don't really address proportions.  Drinking 1 oz of wheatgrass alone is not so bad but 3 to 5 oz. is really a bad taste.  I haven't been able to find the time to get out the old colema board and start doing irragations so I can do wheatgrass implants. Can you help me with this.....

thank you very much

At Creative Health Institute we teach that it doesn't matter what you mix your wheatgrass juice with as long as you get it down.

The benefits of wheatgrass

Annwigmore The Benefits of Wheatgrass
excerpts from The Wheatgrass Book by Dr. Ann Wigmore

WHEATGRASS... Increases red blood cell count, lowers blood pressure... It cleanses the blood, organs and gastrointestinal tract of debris. It stimulates metabolism and bodily enzyme systems in enriching the blood by increasing red blood cell count, and in dilating the blood pathways throughout the body, reducing blood pressure.

Stimulates the thyroid, correcting obesity, indigestion, etc. The thyroid gland is also stimulated and normalized by the use of wheatgrass juice - an important step toward the correction of obesity, indigestion and a host of other complaints.

Restores alkalinity to the blood... Wheatgrass has an alkalizing effect on the blood. Its abundance of alkaline minerals helps reduce overacidity in the blood. It can be used to relieve many internal pains. It has been used successfully to treat peptic ulcers, ulcerative colitis, constipation, diarrhea, and other complaints of the gastrointestinal tract.

How to drink it... Dr. Ann Wigmore suggests drinking wheatgrass juice in small amounts throughout the course of the day, always on an empty or nearly empty stomach. In general, two to four ounces every day or two is sufficient. Slowly sipping small quantities of the juice gives your body an opportunity to get used to its taste and effect. Taking one or two-ounce drinks straight or mixed with other juices (fruit & vegetable) and sipping slowly will help prevent nausea or stomach upset. On a healing regime, Dr. Ann suggests you drink one or two oz., up to 3 or 4 times a day. And to take one day of rest a week.

Powerful detoxifier and liver and blood protector... The enzymes and amino acids found in wheatgrass can protect us from carcinogens like no other food or medicine can. It strengthens our cells, detoxifies the liver, bloodstream, and chemically neutralizes environmental pollutants.

Fights tumors and neutralizes toxins.... Recent studies show that wheatgrass juice has a powerful ability to fight tumors without the usual toxicity of drugs that also inhibit cell-destroying agents. The many active compounds found in grass juice can cleanse the blood and neutralize and digest toxins in our cells.

Whether you have a cut finger you want to heal, or you desire to lose five pounds... enzymes must do the actual work. The life and abilities of the enzymes found naturally in our bodies can be extended if we help them from the outside by adding exogenous enzymes, like the ones found in wheatgrass juice.

Remarkable similarity to our own blood... The 2nd important nutritional aspect of chlorophyll is its remarkable similarity to hemoglobin, the compound that carries oxygen in the blood. Dr. Hagiwara, a Japanese science and health educator, is a leading advocate for the use of grass as food and medicine. He reasons that since chlorophyll is soluble in fat particles, and since fat particles are absorbed directly into the blood via the lymphatic system, that chlorophyll can also be absorbed in this way. In other words, when the "blood" of plants is absorbed in humans it is transformed into human blood, which transports nutrients to every cell of the body.

Wheatgrass implants reverse damage from inside the lower bowel... In the case of illness, they stimulate a rapid cleansing of the lower bowel and draw out accumulations of debris. Hold for 20 minutes.

Externally eliminates itching almost immediately... Wheatgrass juice externally applied to the skin can help eliminate itching almost immediately.

It will soothe sunburned skin and also acts as a disinfectant.

Rubbed into the scalp before a shampoo, it will help mend damaged hair and alleviate itchy, scaly scalp conditions.

Wheatgrass juice is soothing and healing for cuts, burns, scrapes, rashes, poison ivy, athlete's foot, insect bites, boils, sores , open ulcers, tumors & so on.

As a sleep aid... Merely place a tray of living wheatgrass near the head of your bed. It will enhance the oxygen in the air and generate healthful negative ions to help you sleep more soundly.

Use as a poultice and replace every two to four hours.

Add some to your bath water and settle in for a nice, long soak.

Gargle with wheatgrass to sweeten the breath and firm up and tighten gums.

Don't cook it... We can only get the benefits of the many enzymes found in grass by eating it uncooked. Cooking destroys 100 percent of the enzymes in food.

Neutralizes toxins... Wheatgras
