Starch Causes Gas in the Bowels
by: Dr. John Tilden
Dr. Tilden was a late 19th century and early 20th century medical doctor who turned to Natural Hygiene to help his patients recover from a wide variety of diseases.
Today we'll learn how the quick eating of starch causes gas in the bowels.
"When digestion of starch is not started in the mouth by thoroughly mixing it with the mouth secretions, fermen- tation results, and gas fills the stomach and bowels, causing much discomfort. The bloating will in time cause constipation. When the bowels are distended with gas, persistalsis (compulsory action) is overcome, and obstinate constipation follows."

In other words, chew your food thoroughly, especially if you're having a starchy food.
