I feel that some cleanses can be dangerous, but done responsibly they are very beneficial. The important thing to keep in mind is preexisting medical conditions. For example, if you are a diabetic, a fast may not be the best idea. Or if it is winter and cold outside, fasting can be dangerous as much of your energy and calories go towards keeping your warm.
