With the help of a curious narrator, they discover what lies beneath their exploitation and how to confront it. Teen emotional and physical conditions are examined by noted experts as the film uncovers an apparent conspiracy that works against the health of an entire generation.

'Raw For Life' covers the benefits of following a raw vegan diet. It provides a lifestyle-appropriate 'how-to' for making such a change and delivers extremely actionable information for those interested in the link between nutrition and health. It includes more than 30 interviews with health and medical experts, celebrities, prominent leaders in the raw foods movement, plus demos by top raw chefs preparing their signature dishes.
The DVD contains appearances by actor/activist Woody Harrelson, 'The Secret' star Reverend Dr. Michael Beckwith, motivational guru Tony Robbins, leading alternative medicine expert Gary Null, director Morgan Spurlock ('Super Size Me'), raw food advocate David Wolfe, medical doctors Joel Fuhrman, Julian Whitaker and Gabriel Cousens, pro athletes, authors, and dozens more.
"There is a significant movement to incorporate more raw, vegan foods in an everyday diet, but there can be confusion about how to transition to healthier food," said Joel Fuhrman, M.D., one of the country's leading experts on nutrition and natural healing and the author of Eat To Live: The Revolutionary Plan for Fast and Sustained Weight Loss, Fasting and Eating for Health: A Medical Doctor's Program for Conquering Disease, and Disease-Proof Your Child."I was glad to lend my expertise to 'Raw For Life' and to shed more light on the links between disease and diet."
The DVD 'Raw For Life' is produced by the team behind the independent documentary film 'Raw for 30 Days,' scheduled for release in Spring 2008 that chronicles six McDonald's-munching Americans with diabetes who switch to a raw vegan diet. The 'Raw For Life' DVD includes details about the medical and nutritional program followed in the film, a protocol that helps reverse diabetes, heart disease, and immune system problems, reduce the cancer risk, combat depression, raise energy levels, and lose weight.
"Once we saw the remarkable medical, physical, emotional and spiritual changes our participants experienced as a result of becoming one hundred percent raw, we wanted this information to be available to the public as soon as possible," said executive producer and creator Mark Perlmutter. "It's been an honor to bring together dozens of experts and leaders in one place, and an outstanding production crew, to bring this DVD to life."
The 'Raw For Life' DVD was produced by Kathy Close, former VP of Production at Oasis TV, an innovative cable network and independent content provider of body/mind/spirit programming. Close has overseen more than 500 independent productions and features for television and film.
Selected experts from 'Raw For Life' will also participate in "Raw Summit 2: The Mind, Body, Spirit and Business Connection," a series of free 'tele-seminars,' or telephone call-in conferences, covering a range of perspectives on a raw vegan diet as well as cutting-edge health and wellness trends. Interviews will be available by telephone and online via podcast. The summit begins October 29; more information is available at www.rawsummit2.com.
'Raw For Life' is available for $29.95 at www.Rawfor30days.com People preordering in October will receive a free kit with information on how to host a house party or screening in their community and how to become a 'health activist' on behalf of diet and nutrition.
About the film 'Raw for 30 Days' and the DVD 'Raw For Life'
The independent documentary film 'Raw for 30 Days' chronicles six McDonald's-munching Americans with Diabetes who eat 100 percent vegan, organic, live, raw foods for a month. This radical diet and lifestyle change, supervised by medical staff at the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center in Patagonia, AZ, was designed to reverse diabetes naturally. The film, often compared to "Super Size Me" for its thematic resemblance to the noted documentary, is executive produced by Mark Perlmutter, an investment and finance professional who eats mostly raw foods himself.
The two-disc DVD set 'Raw For Life' is a compendium DVD featuring more than 30 experts covering the benefits of following a raw vegan diet and providing a lifestyle-appropriate 'how-to.' It includes details about the medical and nutritional program followed in the film, a protocol that will help people reverse diabetes, heart disease, and immune system problems, reduce the cancer risk, combat depression, raise energy levels, and lose weight. For updates or to get involved by hosting house parties in your community to spread the word, please see www.Rawfor30days.com. .

Dear James,
Hi there! I stumbled upon this CBS news report on raw foods and felt the need to pass it along. I don't care what anyone else has to say, really, since I experienced the benefits of living foods myself. I attended a detox program there in Hodunk in 1992 and stayed and worked for Don for 4 months. I am not currently "raw" but I am trying to work out a plan to go back to CHI. I will be emailing again soon.
Thank you,
Lesley Poling
P.S. Tell Don hello! (I don't know if he will remember me or not!)

Dear Friends,
There is an email that is being circulated about having raw food families appear on a reality based television show. Many people are unaware of the possible negative consequences that accompany such an offer.
Three months ago a TV company from New York called me several times and asked for the addresses of raw families in the US. They promised $2,000 to me if I help them find one and $20,000 to the participating family. I replied to them that while there were probably hundreds of raw families in this country it was unlikely that any raw family would want to be exposed. Now, as the word is out, I am concerned for some raw families who might agree to participate for the sake of money.
Just last weekend I was in Eugene and met my friend Nancy B., whose ex-husband (a former raw foodist) is suing her for "improperly" feeding her two boys (ages 7 years and 2 years). Both boys have developed well according to their doctor but she is afraid to live at home and is living in her van.
It is not just a fear, it is a reality. Raw food is not officially recognized yet. Since 2005 my family has been financially and psychologically supporting five different families whose children were attempted to be taken (or were taken) away by authorities. If similar children will get exposed, there will be some viewers out of millions that would want to help “poor” children to be fed “properly.” Especially if professional TV producers will get kids to talk. Children are often naïve and they can say things like, “Yeah, I also like pizza but my parents never allow me to eat it!” For years, my kids were questioned about their diet by many strangers on the street. We were able to escape by constantly moving.
I strongly believe that to expose the benefits of the raw food diet, adults have to act first without involving children, and this process is already happening. When it will become more normal and acceptable to be on a raw diet among adults then we can expose our kids.
Sincerely,
Victoria

Super-Sizing for kids... What happens when a man eats nothing but McDonald's food for 30 days? It's a lesson that schoolchildren across the country are about to find out.
Morgan Spurlock, director and star of "Super Size Me: A film of epic proportions," is releasing an edited version of the film for classrooms. The school version of the Academy-Award nominated film is scheduled to be released after the Feb. 27 Oscars ceremony. To Spurlock, schools are the perfect place to teach nutrition.
"We'll never make every parent a perfect parent. It won't happen. But I really believe we can make every school really close," Spurlock said, while in Connecticut at a forum on childhood obesity.
The film chronicles his deterioration during the experiment, measuring his bulging belly, soaring cholesterol, depression, lack of attention and sexual dysfunction, which he edited out for the school film. The 34-year-old filmmaker gained 25 pounds during the month-long feeding frenzy, prompting his doctor to beg him to stop and declare in disgust that his liver had become paté.
The school DVD is targeted for grades 6 through 12. It contains sample lesson plans and bonus interviews with nutritionists and doctors. Spurlock also said that he is working with foundations to underwrite the cost, so that cash-strapped school districts can get it for free.

If you have ever heard of "Super Size Me," the junk food documentary, then get ready for a stunning look at the other side of the dinner table. Scheduled for release this summer is "Supercharge Me ... 30 Days Raw."
"Supercharge Me ... " is a "rawcumentary" -- a film showing what happens when one eats only vegan, raw, organic food -- and nothing else -- for a month. This is the story of a woman who wanted to fulfill a lifelong dream: to dress up as a Las Vegas showgirl for Halloween. But that dream met reality in the mirror -- and she knew something had to be done.
