Electrolyte Lemonade

2 Lemons
2 Green Apples
1 Cup of Rejuvelac

Fruit Salad

Apples
Cherries
Bananas
Raisins
Marinade (Agave Nectar and Orange juice)

Green Fruit Salad

1 bag Baby Spinach or Romaine Lettuce tossed in Balsamic Vinegar and Olive Oil
3/4 C Cashews
1/3 C cranberries

1 apple, 1 pear cubed, lemon juice and 1/3 cup agave nectar mixed together

Honey, Nut, and Date Pie Crust

serves 8

1 C. Almonds, soaked for 12 hours, drained,  and dehydrated for 12 hours
1 C. Pecans, soaked for 12 hours, drained,  and dehydrated for 12 hours
1 C. Walnuts, soaked for 12 hours, drained,  and dehydrated for 12 hours
1 C. Medjcol Dates, pits removed
1/2 tsp. Sea Salt
1 tsp. Vanilla Powder
1/4 C. Raw Honey

Place Almonds in processor and process until mixture resembles flour.
Add Sea Salt and Vanilla Powder to the Almonds and process well.
Place Pecans, Walnuts, and Dates in food processor and process.
Add Honey to the Nut and Date mixture and process until mixed well.
Press mixture into 8x10 inch glass pie pan.
Crust may be made ahead of time and refrigerated or frozen.

Carrot Salad

4 – 5 Large Organic Carrots, grated
1/2 C. Organic Raisins
1/2 C. Walnuts, Chopped
1/4 C. Veginase (transitional)
Fresh Mint Leaves

Heriote’s Salad Dressing

Balsamic vinegar
Stevia
Herbamare spice
Salad sprinkle (frontiers)

Pepper Puppies

1/2 C. Flaxseeds 
1 C. Carrots
1/2 C. Almonds 
1/2 C. Celery Juice
1/2 C. Red Onion 
Herbamare
4 Cloves Garlic 
3 Red Peppers

In Blender, blend all but peppers. Cut Peppers in large bite-sized pieces and place on serving plates. Put mixture dollop on top of each pepper and enjoy !!

Summer Garden Salad

6 cups of wild or other greens (including dandelion)
2 apples, chopped
1 cabbage, green
1 yam
4 tablespoons hemp seed

Chop by hand into bite size pieces.
Spiral slice yam with Saladacco.
Mix ingredients and serve.

Water and You

We all know that water is important but I've never see it written down like this before:

• 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
• In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.
• Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.
• One glass of water shuts down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a U-Washington study.
• Lack of water is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.
• Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.
• A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.
• Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

The Fillings in your Teeth

The popular television game show, Jeopardy, had as one of its categories, “elements.” The “answer” on the game board was: “Dentists use silver fillings which are actually 50% this.”

The quickest contestant responded: “What is mercury?”

Several weeks ago Bill Maher while on the Larry King show said he had hismercury fillings removed because they were poison. Lisa Presley, in a Rolling Stone interview, said she almost died from her mercury fillings. Tom Hanks said he had his fillings removed.

With all the recent media attention to the Bush administration’s roll back of mercury emission levels for industry, the EPA report that 630,000 babies a year are adversely affected by mercury in utero and the ever-increasing toxic levels of mercury in many fish, the public is becoming very aware of how toxic mercury is.

However, the largest segment of the public isn't aware that they have mercury in their teeth, and we imagine that many Jeopardy viewers did a double take when they heard that the correct answer was MERCURY!

All mercury-free activists should take courage at these events and do every thing they can to make them a daily event.

Genetically engineered non-EPA/USDA approved grass spreads into the wild

An experimental variety of genetically engineered bentgrass [Monsanto] has escaped from its test plot in Oregon and has been found growing in the wild as far as three miles away, according to scientists from the U.S. EPA.

The biotech plant, designed for golf courses, has not been approved by the USDA, but has already been found dispersing among native grasses in six different locations. Scientists say they don't know how will behave in the wild but admit it may have a strong advantage over native grasses, and could therefore irreversibly damage the ecosystem as it spreads.

According to Tom Stohlgren, an ecologist at the US Geological Survey's National Institute of Invasive Species Science, the experimental bentgrass "can tend to outcompete other species...It doesn't need to sexually reproduce - it's like The Blob. It could potentially hit rare species or national parks."

Miso soup may help burn off fat

That tasty miso soup you had for lunch may be more than delicious -- it could help you burn away excess fat...

They found that fucoxanthin, the brown pigment in the seaweed, promoted a 5 to 10 percent weight loss in mice and rats by shrinking abdominal fat. The compound appeared to stimulate a protein that causes fat oxidation and conversion of energy to heat.

This protein is found in white adipose tissue -- belly fat -- and that means fucoxanthin might be particularly effective at shrinking oversized guts, the researchers hypothesized... "The exciting finding is that fucoxanthin may increase metabolism and weight control," said Connie Diekman, director of University Nutrition at Washington University in St. Louis. Fasting makes a comeback in modern medicine

Fasting, practiced for thousands of years as a cure for a variety of diseases, is making a comeback slowly among the practitioners of modern medicine.

Buchinger, on Germany's Lake Constance and a handful of other clinics around the world are beginning to offer fasting as one of the physical therapies and medical tourists are flocking to take advantage, according to Newsweek.

Worldwide Obesity more harmful than malnutrition

European health ministers from 53 countries have approved the world's first charter to fight obesity, drafted by the World Health Organization.

The WHO charter aims to reverse the trend of increasing obesity by 2015. One of the charter's more controversial clauses is an obligation for legislation requiring private businesses to limit the marketing of fatty, sugary foods to children.
